Tajmahal — Restaurant in Umeå kommun

I'm writing this review on behalf of 6 Indian friends, from 6 different states in India. The owners are not Indian(I guess bangladeshi), they are serving unauthentic, unhealthy, unhygienic meal in the name of "Indian food" in Sweden. If you have visited this place had their food thinking this is Indian food, you are in a wrong place. Most of us got sick after having a buffet here, everything is super processed or frozen i believe. Indian food is all about fresh ingredients and flavours. Everything was just bland(I'm not saying it to be spicy) and tasteless, lots of food colour, the rice and naan feels super heavy, and most of the dishes served were potatoes, which potentially fills your tummy. Even the dishes had weird names jumping chicken, Bombay potato(which doesn't exist in Mumbai), vegetable pulav(had eggs in them), irony is they served frozen spring rolls in an Indian restaurant, I'm not sure if they are serving shrimp crisps as papadams!!!??. Bad experience: We went here for dinner last night (020323) -Ordered food -Got a portion of it uncooked Tried to call, reach out to the person who was around and he was non stop on phone. His attention towards us was zero. -Finally I took the plate and returned the item. They did give another serving. -Throughout our evening, there was no one attending to us. The restaurant was empty but we were paying for our food. There was no hospitality. Even for the cutlery request, to pay the bill, to ask for some desert ( which they don't have in menu!) - the attentiveness of the waiter was zero. He was watching videos on mobile, chatting, speaking loudly all the time. It was so dead in the restaurant,I understand the staff is dead bored, but this attitude of ill hospitality is bad for the reputation. Finally, the food was just really average. Nothing to look forward too....

And it is. They're a little slow to fill up the buffet. If something runs out, usually the chicken, you might not see it again.

That said, they've put in a hot sauce for the chicken. It's not that hot, but it does have some some to it.

Don't forget though that you're in northern Sweden and you have to take what you can get.

I'll definitely be back again and again.

And if your home for dinner and want something a little hotter, of you ask, they'll do it for you.

But one very strange is that if you come for dinner, your food is served in these funny metal plates where the food is portioned for you.
