Alte Taverne — Restaurant in Adelboden

A very disappointing experience for our 12 persons family group...with 1 child who was super patient and didn't get food during the 21/2 hour wait!!!! We chose this restaurant that is in a very pretty old farmstyle location so hopeful to celebrate an important birthday dinner in style with what looked like a good menu although pricey. It turned out to be the worst choice we ever made...Service was so slow, it took an hour just for drinks. No one ever came to clearly communicate with us on the troubles they were having to keep up with their food service in getting the dishes we ordered out of the kitchen!! We needed to get up and try to find out what was their actual problem a few times with them promising to finally get our oders When the only thing they managed to serve us after a series a green leaf salades and bread was a waterbased...non cheesy fondue at 70.- That was the last straw for our group...we were prepared to be fair and pay our drinks...they said just go (no payment) We left very shocked and...

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. First off, the restaurant itself is brilliantly placed mountainside with a breathtaking view of the town and the nature that surrounds it, amazing to gaze over with a glass of fine wine. Secondly, the food was simply spectacular. I truly give my compliments to the cooking staff. My table and I chose two different types of fondu and a meat dish to share. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and was extremely satisfied with both the taste and quality, very delicious. The food is well worth the cost in my opinion. Lastly, the service was truly one of one. We were greeted with friendly smiles from all staff members throughout the night. Our waiter was extremely down-to-earth and seemed to go far out of his way to provide, fast, effective, and friendly service. My family and I had a horrendous experience. We reserved a table for 12 people to celebrate my grandmother's 85th birthday and we were all equally disappointed. The service was simply non-existent, we constantly had to walk to the waiters in order to get updates about of drinks and food . Drinks were served after 45minutes of waiting. Overall, we waited +2 hours for our main dishes to arrive, only to be served two fondues for a price of (CHF 70). The fondue was as runny as water, too salty and the bread was not even sliced for us.
