Panorama Hotel Freudenberg AG — Restaurant in Appenzell

This hotel has a wonderful location, outlooking the town and the surrounding mountains. We have a very clean and beautiful balcony with a gorgeous mountain view. The staffs are extremely friendly, helpful and family friendly (we have a one year old with us). The dinner and the breakfast are very tasty and the prices are very low (according to Swiss standards of course 😅) This hotel is aslo close to the world famous restaurant Berggasthaus Äscher-Wildkirchli. If you stay longer than 2 nights, you can get holiday cards and enjoy free cable rides including the ride to the top of Elbenalp where the restaurant is. We were taken here by friends who live in Appenzell for a wonderful lunch so cannot comment on the rooms and other hotel facilities, however the food and service were outstanding and although as usual in Switzerland it came at a cost, in reality £150 for lunch x 6 was good value. The location overlooks the town with great views across the wonderful Appenzell countryside and is a 15 minute walk from the centre - but well worth it! We had a mixture of schnitzel, salad and a local dish I cannot remember. As a group this was washed down with some wonderful local beer and eistee. The hotel staff and owners were fantastic and the rooms were spacious and clean. The food was excellent and the chef/ Owner, Robert and his wife work hard to make the hotel in our view a 4 star rated facility. We found the hotel to be much better than some of our USA hotels that we have stayed over the years. As for transportation from the train Bahn to the hotel and vice versa was provided by Robert and his wife. You do not get this kind of personal service in the USA.
