Römerhof Augst — Restaurant in Augst

I wasn't aware that they have rooms, and suspect that they no longer do. However, we dropped in after visiting the nearby Roman site. I wouldn't have if I had read the previous review.. ||Now it's possible that it has changed hands because our experience couldn't have been more different. We were promptly met at the door and shown to a table. The vibe is distinctly Italian, and clearly family run. In fact being slightly after lunch time rush the family had gathered around a corner table for their own meal. ||We were offered complimentary orange juices while we waited for our order and observed fabulous looking pasta dishes arriving at adjacent tables. A large platter of spaghetti vongole stands out in my memory. Soon our pizza arrived and I can honestly say that I have not had finer anywhere North of the Alps. We called in the afternoon to reconfirm again that we would have a late arrival that night, around 11 pm., as stated in the reservation for two nights at Römerhof, Augst, as we were coming from a 650 km trip by car, and they said everything was ok. When we arrived, they told us the hotel was full (although reservation has been guaranteed with visa Card) and send us to a Etap hotel around 4 km, from the hotel. When we asked for complain forms, they did not want to handle them, saying we should talk with the manager in the morning. When we came again, they said they did not have any kind of complain forms at all. Totally...
