KANCHI Baden — Restaurant in Baden

We had reserved a table and showed up a bit early. Service was great, but continued to slow down significantly as the restaurant got fuller.

Sadly, we could barely get the attention of waiters as they were running from table to table. After asking for the bill we waited 20 min before asking for the bill repeatedly until we could finally pay and leave almost another 20min later.

We sincerely hope this was the exception or just a bad evening. The staff remained incredibly friendly and the restaurant was packed, so I can forgive this misstep.

The atmosphere is cozy and cute. Decorations are tasteful and not overdone. I would suggest for the restaurant to invest into some sound treatment on the ceiling as it did get very loud on that packed evening. Exceptionally well done was the distance between tables. At no point did it ever feel like our space was invaded by other guests and there was plenty of room.

To get to the best part: The food was delicious. There's no other way to say it. Perfectly balanced and beautifully prepared dishes. If for no other reason but the food, I will always recommend this restaurant. Sadly we weren't offered to change the spice level when ordering the dishes, but I was happy to see the intended spiciness be distinct for each dish and be more than enough for swiss customers.

We have been going to Kanchi for some years already, before, while and after Covid. Food is always excellent (I think we have tried almost all from the menu), very tasteful, quite big portions including big rice portions. We can order always more spicy than regular Swiss level and they very kindly adjust. It is all really delicious. We love the great Swiss Appenzeller IPA beer, not easy to find in Swiss restaurants. Ramesh and the team are very warmly hosting us and are very attentive of what we like and need. They make us feel like family. I really appreciate their honesty, humanity and kindness. They also serve take away, which was a wonderful option during Covid times. Atmosphere is very nice with some background music. It is always possible to talk with no need to be loud and be disturbed. In the hottest days in summer, you find there a cool comfortable place, waiting to serve you in the best way. I finally feel grateful for the level of cleanliness everywhere. One of our friend recommended this restaurant and we drove to Baden from Zurich. I must say, I was surprised by looking at its interior, felt like Im really in India.

My favorite: We had already been 3 times and my favorite is Starter: Gobi Manchurian Main dish: Chicken tikka masala with garlic naan.

Visit with my mom dad: My dad do not visit restaurants that often. Luckily he was here and I wanted him to try Indian food out of India. we took him to this restaurant (btw this was our 3rd visit that time). Mr. Ramesh welcomed him with great respect and he made sure my parents gets comfortable. The food quality was excellent as always.
