Café du plateau — Restaurant in Chêne-Bourg

From the outside this restaurant is so unassuming that I passed it by, and missed it, and had to recheck the map...it is located in a residential neighborhood. This is an establishment for the locals who know where it is and actively seek it because it offers good food in a friendly environment. I didn't have a reservation, but was given a table anyways.

I had gespacho for the entré and fresh perch with frites for plat principal...both absolutely delicious. I cleaned my plate with bread.

The gentleman whom I think was the owner was very nice, the servers were inviting and friendly...if in Geneva again, I will come back here, and I suggest you...

You want the real thing? That’s the Gem in the Geneva area. Authentic, consistent top quality food and good service. I have never seen a tourist there but a great mix of locals. This restaurant used to be the Cafe des Voyageurs at Eaux-Vive train station. My take is the riz-de-veau. They frequently have fresh Geneva-lake perches and having frequented this restaurant very regularly i can assure that all plates are delicious. They usually propose specific menues based on what they could just get very fresh from the market. Last but not least; excellent...
