I don't usually write negative reviews, but customers and performers need to be warned about this place. I was booked as a musician to play there, with another performer. I had negotiated the honorarium ahead of time. We got there after a mega storm had hit. We had to bring all our sound equipment and had not been warned they didn't even provide musicians with a mixing table. The sound system didn't work and nobody there knew how to use it and didn't care. They ended up finding a mixing table and we had to be our own sound engineers. Cue the evening. As many cancellations had occurred due to the storm, I suggested playing upstairs instead of in the concert area on the lower floor. I then discovered they had s karaoke evening due to start on the top floor. Our event had not been advertised outside nor indoors. The waiters didn't even further the information to the other patrons there. The people who did come for the concert were disappointed in the (lack of) service and helpfulness. We played for over 2 hours. When came the time to be paid, the boss didn't want to pay us, stating that the turnout had been too low. I held my ground. He ended up throwing the equivalent of 2/3 of the original honorarium in my face and yelled at me to get out. During the heated discussion, he told me that he pays a band 100.- on Sunday evenings to play for 6 hours and expects them to bring all their sound equipment and their own sound engineer. This place...
Read moreWhile the bar looks appealing from inside and out, the only good attribute worth mentioning about this location of the Brasseur chain is its central location. However, for all reasons, find another bar if you are in search of beer (La Petite Reine on the other side of the train station) or find another restaurant if you are search of food (I don't particularly recommend Holy Cow burgers which is next door but instead recommend Al Narjase for a better kebab than you will find over at Parfums de Beyrouth on the parallel street). The beer at Brasseur, while brewed on premises (?) is neither great nor cheap. The atmosphere inside is stuffy and not in a good way. It feels too commercial and the bartenders/servers aren't exceptionally warm or friendly. Typically overworked and stressed, I feel sorry for those that work there. The thing that is clear for me is that it is not an enjoyable place to spend your time nor money at. Of course, it is not the worst bar restaurant in the world but you can do better! Good luck and enjoy your...
Read moreIt was told me this is a perfect place for salsa and Latin music. The band mimics a cover of a real band, but the actual music is not being played alive. I guess the mic output was not ON. The beer isn't cold, and I presented lots of trouble between the staff service and customers. Very fishy place to be. I hope it...
