Looking about for just a solid place to get dinner in the middle of a work trip and weekend vacation in Geneva and La Trattoria was exactly what we needed. Walking distance from the business district across the lake from Old Town (and easy walk from train station). Generous portions made it a great value and the delicious food made it a great dinner. Good wine selection, large menu, and attentive (if a little grumpy) staff... The appetizers were large enough to be a meal on their own (fresh salad was very fresh and the "focaccia" was the size of a pizza). My wife's pasta was delicious as was my entrecote in mushroom sauce (I ordered a tomato based sauce, but was happy with the substitution honestly). Now to the food: if you are looking for huge portions, but little quality, then this is the place to go: pre-cooked pasta, soft and served in lots of sauce, cream and covered with cheese, without much taste or flavour, a pale pizza bread covered in garlic and tomatoes called "bruschetta" accompanied by a glass of white wine with a taste close to vinegar (the names on the wine menu are surely not reflecting the content of the glass), burned lasagna, that has been prepared for days and heated again.
