We were thoroughly enjoying our trip to Switzerland until our visit to Lido Restaurant turned into a deeply upsetting experience. As Indian tourists, we arrived well before the kitchen’s closing time—confirmed by a staff member to be 9:30 PM—and were seated without delay. But for more than 20 minutes, not a single staff member came to greet us or take our order. In the meantime, every other table around us—occupied exclusively by people who did not look like us—was being served promptly.
Eventually, someone approached us—not to serve us, but to inform us that the kitchen had “closed” and that they didn’t want to offer “bad service,” essentially asking us to leave. The implication was clear: we were being excluded, not because of timing or availability, but because of who we are.
This went far beyond poor service—it was clear racial discrimination. We were made to feel unwelcome and out of place, which is something no one should ever experience, especially while dining out. What happened to us was unacceptable, and we urge others—especially fellow travelers of color—to think twice before visiting this...
Read moreThe location is stunning, offering breathtaking views. However, it's unfortunate that the staff, service, food quantities and prices do not match with the excellence of the place. There for lunch, it took 45 min before our 5 people table was served and people who had arrived after us were served before, while there were only 4-5 tables to be served at that time. When bringing this to the waiter's attention, there was no excuses, not a nice gesture, no caring, but mocking! There' s a section "petite faim" in the menu which are actually tremendous salads. No one could eat it up. I was starving, so I ordered a Burrata Pugliese as main course and funnily this is not under the petite faim section. 4 tiny mini pieces of Burrata with a slice of pepper plant under each burratiny😂. Don't take it, it's not even spiced up and absolutely not worth CHF 31.50. Again raised this and no consideration at all from the restaurant. Too bad, the place is just so good. Let's wait for the next owner who will hopefully handle this place with the professionalism...
Read moreWe had an amazing trip to Switzerland so far top we decided to go this restaurant. Our experience at Lido Restaurant was not just disappointing—it was deeply disturbing. We arrived well before closing time (a staff member confirmed the kitchen closes at 9:30 PM), and were seated promptly. However, for over 20 minutes, no one came to take our order or even acknowledge us. Meanwhile, food was being served to every table around us—every single one of which had diners who did not look like us.
Eventually, someone came over, not to take our order, but to tell us the kitchen was “closed” and they “didn’t want to give us bad service” so we should leave. It was painfully obvious we were being singled out and discriminated against.
This was not just poor service—it was discrimination , plain and simple. We were treated as if we didn’t belong, and that’s something no one should have to experience at any establishment. Absolutely unacceptable, and I urge anyone who values basic respect and decency to stay far away...
