Restaurant Maharaja Lausanne — Restaurant in Lausanne

My friend and I went there on Friday the 11th of March 2022. Absolute horrible experience. Being an Indian. The restaurant was empty, my friend and I ordered water as we did not want to have any alcohol that night, the owner and the lady who served us talked about us being stingy and talked about Indians being stingy in general. The owner was super rude and did not want to serve us at all.when I confronted the lady, she simply told me to not talk about it too much and apologized on his behalf. I don’t have anything against her , but the owner should not be talking about his customers like that. He was very rude, extremely unprofessional and I can correctly guess that, this is the reason his restaurant was empty on a Friday night in Europe. He should really see to it that he mends his ways. The food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Maybe he should focus on the food and the service than pass comments on his customers. As customers we cannot order items that we are not interested in having just because it would mean more business for him. He should retrospect and thinks about his actions and the consequences they would have on his business. I work in business management and I know for sure that this business would definitely fail if this attitude of the owner of the establishment...

I went there with my husband, as we live nearby. We sat down and ordered our food. When it came out, it was quite good. Not great, but definitely better than cooking for myself after a long week at work. As I ate, I decided I was thirsty. I went to the counter and asked for water. The man working explained that they were "a caterer" and not "a restaurant" so they did not serve glasses of water. Okay, that was odd, but I was okay with it. But I was still really thirsty, so I pulled a bottle of water from my bag. (It's not that I didn't want to buy a beverage, it's that I don't really like bottled water, the waste of plastic and all). The man came back out from the kitchen and yelled "PUT THAT BACK IN YOUR BAG NOW". He was EXTREMELY rude. If he had asked politely, my thirsty self might have even been okay with it, but he was straight up rude. We almost got our food boxed up to eat at home, because it was such an unpleasant experience. In the end we ate it there and left.

I don't think I have ever written a bad review online before, but this was some of the worst service I have ever had.

The lunch meals are very easy to order as daily you have 4 plates... (2 vegetarian) and it s always delicious... I have never been disappointed... Spicy with lots of flavour and taste inside everything I tested... Cheap food as well... Lots of restaurant should test their food like this restaurant before giving the food to customers... I have no complain... Yes the manager is awefull he s a very bad guy and never smile or kind (maybe only with me I have no idea)... But the girl : she s just great and smile and is wonderful with...
