McArthur's Pub: A Great Night of Beatles Music

McArthur's Pub is a fantastic spot for a casual night or even afternoon out. Their food is consistently good, with the chili and stuffed hot dog being particular favorites of ours. The beer selection is impressive, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming.

However, what truly sets McArthur's apart was their "first for me" live music event. On Saturday I had the pleasure of seeing the Italian "The Ladders," a fantastic Beatles cover band. While I never had the chance to see the Fab Fours live, The Ladders provided an incredibly authentic experience, with tight harmonies and professional musicianship.

Their performance was energizing, covering all the iconic hits and even venturing into some deeper cuts. The quartet plus one (as in Billy Preston's ivories in "Don't Let Me Down" or to simulate some of the string orchestras of the original recordings) intoned all the hits and some lesser heard material like the TV special version, the Beatles did of the old Isley Brothers' hit "Shout." Opening with "She Loves Me," the yeah, yeahs came a bit timid from the audience but they quickly warmed up and reached a loud peak with the shout alongs to "Hey Jude" and "Let It Be." Changing vocal leads (as the Beatles did) was also a positive point to remember, and all the members shined in whatever cover they sang.

I highly recommend catching The Ladders or any other live music act at McArthur's. It's a fantastic way to enjoy their already-great atmosphere. I'm looking forward to returning for the Super Bowl (hopefully Eagles against the Chiefs) on February 9th and hopefully experiencing more live music...

The worst and most unfriendly experience ever! Being insulted by the waitress, then asking for the manager who is not eaven listening to the problem! Rude and disrespectful. Absolutely bad!!! Im always fair in my reviews and comments. Please enjoy this place if you want, just don’t expect to be treated well as a human being as you should be. The Manager is a incredibly incompetent and aggressiv person. His answer to my 1 star review is a joke (look at my other reviews, that are mostly very good), according to his disrespectful behaviour during a our conversation. He even wanted attack me physically and threatened me to hit me. Well done dude, you are a hero and a good person 😅. All my friends and contact’s will never ever visit your place. You are so arrogant to even think we would ever want to go to this place again…good luck and remember: karma is real, deal with it. The universe, god will always treat and resolve things like this according to the truth…

Die schlimmste und unfreundlichste Erfahrung aller Zeiten! Von der Kellnerin beleidigt zu werden und dann nach dem Manager fragen, der dem Problem nicht einmal zuhört! Unhöflich und respektlos. Absolut schlecht!!! Ich bin immer fair in meinen Bewertungen und Kommentaren. Bitte genießen Sie diesen Ort, wenn Sie möchten, aber erwarten Sie nicht, als Mensch so behandelt zu werden, wie Sie es sein sollten. Der Manager ist eine unglaublich inkompetente und aggressive Person. Seine Antwort auf meine 1-Stern-Bewertung ist ein Witz (siehe meine anderen Bewertungen, die größtenteils sehr gut sind), nach seinem respektlosen Verhalten während eines unserer Gespräche. Er wollte mich sogar körperlich angreifen und drohte mir, mich zu schlagen. Gut gemacht, Alter, du bist ein Held und ein guter Mensch 😅. Alle meine Freunde und Kontakte werden euch niemals mehr besuchen. Du bist so arrogant zu glauben, dass wir jemals wieder an diesen Ort gehen wollen... viel Glück und denk daran: Karma ist real, komm damit klar. La peor y más hostil experiencia de la historia! ¡Ser insultado por la camarera y luego preguntar por el gerente que ni siquiera está escuchando el problema! Grosero e irrespetuoso. ¡¡¡Absolutamente malo!!! Siempre soy justo en mis críticas y comentarios. Disfrute de este lugar si lo desea, pero no espere ser tratado tan bien como un ser humano como debería ser. El gerente es una persona increíblemente incompetente y agresiva. Su respuesta a mi reseña de 1 estrella es una broma (mira mis otras reseñas, que en su mayoría son muy buenas), de acuerdo con su comportamiento irrespetuoso durante nuestra conversación. Incluso me quiso agredir físicamente y me amenazó con golpearme. Bien hecho amigo, eres un héroe y una buena persona 😅. Todos mis amigos y contactos nunca visitarán tu lugar. Eres tan arrogante como para pensar que alguna vez querríamos volver a este lugar... buena suerte y recuerda: el karma es real, lidia con eso. Well-run pub with friendly and helpful staff. Beer selection is decent and the food is reasonable 'pub grub' style. They play good music (but not too loud, so you can still have conversations) and I like that there is a real mix of people here of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Also very organized when showing football matches - they actually know what is on and arrange the TVs ahead of time, and try to accommodate you if you have a special request. In my opinion, this is one of the better pubs in Switzerland and by far the best...
