Restaurant Horizon 1904 — Restaurant in Ollon

Our recent visit to this restaurant, meant to celebrate a special family achievement, turned into an evening of utter disappointment. Despite the stunning location and the best efforts of the serving staff, the experience was marred by poor management and kitchen issues. After a 90-minute wait, half of our order arrived cold but the other half was still missing. Although the staff offered to rectify the situation, we decided not to wait any longer for what seemed like microwaved solution and left in search of a better dining option.

What’s particularly frustrating is that the management made no effort to make amends. With so many excellent restaurants in town that deliver both quality food and service, it's baffling why the owners haven’t addressed the obvious issues here. The service here was the worst that I have ever had. It took a very long time for us to be served and they were extremely inattentive and uninterested. It was extremely quiet in there and there were lots of staff but none of them serving and paying attention to guests. They got lots of our orders wrong and did not bring my dish. When I reminded them that they had not brought my food they went to the kitchen and never came back and I never received my food. There was no apology or explanation. When we came to pay the bill the dish was on there and still no apology for my lack of a meal. We would never eat here again. Le restaurant L’Horizon 1904 est un très bel établissement, bien situé, avec un cadre agréable et soigné un endroit où l’on a plaisir à s’installer. Les plats étaient savoureux, bien présentés et riches en goût. Un vrai bon point sur ce plan-là.

En revanche, le service n’a malheureusement pas été à la hauteur. À notre arrivée, nous avons bien précisé que nous devions partir à 13h15 pour reprendre le travail. Malgré cela, le rythme du service est resté lent et peu attentif, sans aucune adaptation à notre contrainte horaire.

Nous avons attendu de longues minutes avant que notre table soit débarrassée, alors même que la salle n’était ni pleine ni particulièrement animée. Les serveurs semblaient disponibles certains discutaient ou riaient près du passe, d’autres nous observaient depuis le bar sans intervenir pendant que d’autres tables, arrivées après nous, étaient prises en charge avant nous.

Même pour régler l’addition, il a fallu patienter qu’un membre du personnel se rende enfin disponible.

Ce manque de réactivité et d’attention a clairement nui à notre expérience. Nous ne nous sommes pas sentis accueillis ni considérés, ce qui est d’autant plus regrettable au regard des prix pratiqués. Heureusement, une des serveuses, Alba, a su faire preuve de professionnalisme en nous apportant rapidement les desserts à notre demande, ce qui a un peu adouci la fin du repas.
