Fantastic place - great host - addictive food!
We went with my parents, who are not very experienced in Asian food. So the owner: Mia offered us a selection of different foods, so that we could try out different stuff. It was just incredible. My mum who is criticising me very often when I cook something with a spice she doesn’t know, was so impressed and happy with the food that she decided to come now regularly.
We were very lucky, Mia took a lot of time to explain us different food and the ingredients - whow, she is so passionate about her guests and her food! And we have to admit - it is very very addictive. I am a great lover of Asian food and I had hundreds of curry around the globe, Dapura Mia has the best curry I ever had! The slow cooked Indonesian curry! You need to try it.
The place is super sweet! Mia and her husband Eric refurbished it all by themselves with friends! Amazing! I still remember how it looked like when it was the Nelson Pub... sooo lovely! It is a fantastic place for an evening or extended lunch with friends or it can also be rented for parties. We decided to do that! Such a lovely place.
We already booked the next dinners with friends - looking forward to it! Did I mention that they have a nice selection of beers and wine? And not to forget: they have a great Grappa too.
Thank you so much. Wonderful time...
Read moreWe had a fabulous experience at Dapura Mia. We have just arrived in Zurich to live and were exploring areas along the lake and stumbled across this gem of a lake front restaurant. We absolutely love Asian food so walked in without a booking and were met with such friendliness and courtesy from Mia, the owner. Mia is so lovely and great fun, and nothing was too much to ask. The restaurant itself is so gorgeous with amazing ambience, and feels like you are in some sort of island paradise. And last but not least, the food was absolutely insane. We had chicken satays and spring rolls for entree, which were as good as you can get in Asia (and we lived there for 4 years). Definitely some of the best Asian food we've had in Europe. Then Rendang curry, nasi goreng and roti bread, all of which were completely delicious and very generous portions. Mia even organised some hot water for us to make our baby's bottle and even took him for a cuddle while he was crying so I could eat my meal! Overall just great and we will definitely be going back without the kids to try the karaoke and asian inspired cocktails, especially the lychee martini!...
Read moreThe pineapple fried rice is super delicious! The taste of the fried rice is like typical street food fried rice taste! BUT, STREET FOOD TASTE DOESN'T MEAN IT'S BAD!! It means it is really AUTHENTIC INDONESIAN Taste (not mixed with other cultures). The sambal is SUPER DUPER GOOD. Also authentic. You could expect the spicy is at Indonesian spicy level. So please don't expect the taste like "sambal oelek" from the supermarket. It's Indonesian spicy, but it's good! "Ikan bumbu" it's good, but as an Indonesian who is raised and born between sunda and java culture, it's not spicy and relatively sweet. So I needed to put sambal to make it more acceptable to my tongue.
The service is super great! No need to be shy to ask the people that work here to take a picture of you! Take as many picture as you can! The place is nicely decorated, so don't miss your chance and moment!
And here is the picture with my lovely husband! He ordered pineapple fried rice and he ordered more sambal because he likes spicy! The fried rice is on a half...
