Mekong Asia — Restaurant in Stans

During my recent trip to Switzerland, I had the chance to dine at Mekong Restaurant in Stans—and it was a pleasant surprise. Nestled in a quiet part of town, the place offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with just the right blend of modern touches and Southeast Asian charm.

I tried their Pad Thai which were flavorful and authentic. The balance of spices was spot-on—rich, but not overpowering—and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the vegetables had a nice crunch that added to the texture.

Service was friendly and efficient. The staff made sure I was comfortable without being overly attentive, which I appreciated. The food came out promptly, and I never felt rushed even though the place started filling up as the evening went on.

Prices are reasonable for Switzerland, especially considering the quality. I also noticed a good mix of locals and travelers dining there, which is always a good sign.

If you’re in the area and looking for a break from typical European fare, Mekong is worth a visit. It’s a great spot for anyone craving well-executed Thai or Vietnamese dishes in central...

Strangest "buffet" I've been to. I found out you have to pay more for extra items. That is not called a buffet where I'm from. Also, everything was covered and I don't understand German, so when I asked the lady again to show me what was under the lids she got really upset and started shouting dramatically and left my plate to go to the back because she was "busy" taking orders. Another lady who was kinder took my order. I was taken aback by the woman's unprofessional and rude behaviour. No one apologised for it and later she came to ask how the food was. I said the food was nice and asked if she was okay to which she said that I asked too many times to see the food. I explained that I don't understand the German menu and everything is covered so I can't remember what food they have... Still no apology. Extremely rude! It's not acceptable to work with such a bad attitude and spoil people's day especially those who are on holiday. The food is nice but that female server is miserable and rude who will cause the business to drop...

I used to live in Stans, very nearby in 2022. This was my favourite place for Pad Thai!

From several people before I had heard that the lady who takes the order is not kind and always looks angry. I usually have a good experience.

Yesterday at 20:50 my take away order was denied because closing time is at 21:00. I find it a pity to apply closing hours which as a business you dont respect.

I drove all the way from Sempach to have one of the better Pad thai’s in Switserland, to be declined eventho I was on time.

It would not have been a bad idea to have offered/suggested another dish, instead of saying the kitchen is closed.

I myself work as a cook in the kitchen, so I know how it goes when an order comes this late. But open until 21:00 usually means you can order until 21:00

Very dissapointed, hopefully next...
