We found Restaurant Höfli during a run to the Thalwil Migros. The restaurant is conveniently close to the train station, but it's tucked into a street so it feels cozy and intimate. The ambience looks like a nice Italian restaurant so we felt underdressed, but the owner was nothing but warm and welcoming. My German needs some work so we communicated through a little German and a little English which seemed to work.
My husband had the Höfli pizza which had delicious flavor. I like that you could see the Gorgonzola on the pizza. I had the homemade Gorgonzola gnocchi which is the best gnocchi I've ever had. The gnocchi was soft and light with a great sauce. At the end of dinner, the owner brought us each out tastings of complimentary tiramisu which were the perfect size for a sweet ending. It was a lovely touch at the end of a great meal.
For a beer, a pizza (large portion that could feed 1.5 people), a glass of wine, and the pasta (which they had to put half in a takeaway since it was so big), the bill was only 49 CHF. After having an 80 CHF lunch, we were pleasantly surprised with the price.
We will certainly be back both for eating in...
Read moreAmazing Dining Experience in Thalwil! I was so lucky to stumble upon this restaurant during my visit to the Thalwil area! I ordered the Hofli pizza, the 4-cheese pasta (4-Käse Pasta), and the Minestrone soup—and everything was absolutely delicious! What made the visit even better was the service and the fact that the chef is famous! I tried speaking my "poor German" and the lady who served us was so friendly and even the renowned chef, Qamil Shala (Giusi), was wonderful! I read that he is famous for being "The Kindest Pizzaiolo in Zurich" and known for his generosity! I felt such a welcome atmosphere here! I truly love the vibe of the place. 👌 I'm very lucky I found this spot! Definitely check it out if you're...
Read moreI've been going to Höfli for several years now, with friends, colleagues and family. The food is always excellent and the service delightful. However this is an informal trattoria. Pizzas are made one by one. So come and enjoy watching the pizzas being made and chat to the owners, but please don't expect a production line efficiency and prompt timing.... There are plenty of other pizza restaurants with industrial ovens. Take your time, chat with friends, enjoy a glass of Limoncello. Höfli has a wood fired stone oven, which makes for one of the best hand crafted pizzas around. I'm so glad that authentic places like Höfli still exist... It's a rare find in...
