Adding on to the previous review for the benefit of other customers who wants to know more or visit. [TOURIST DO NOT VISIT]
We asked politely and did not expect any priority or special treatment to be given. First off, the male staff's attitude was poor/annoyed. Did not bother to explain things clearly and nicely. You are in service line, please bear in mind your service attitude, I see you can reply reviews very politely but not in person.
So there's not enough seats, we understand, we are willing to wait, but was brushed off instead. Since it was raining and we did not want to walked in the rain again to find another place to eat, we asked if we can sit at the bar instead. You allowed us the seats unwillingly. So we asked if we can place our order first while sitting at the bar, should the guest inside finished, we can shift and sit inside. (My suggestion is, you can maybe check if any of the guest inside is about to finish their meal?) I suppose you have mistaken what we meant. But that does not give you the right to treat a customer this way.
Oh and about the reservation part, we already mentioned we were tourist, we are not aware your place will be full and would need reservation as we happen to drive pass and decide to stop for lunch.
Perhaps your culture is different, but this 'first in first out' is new to us. You could have explained with a better tone. I have never seen any place that do not let guest place their order when they're ready to order, just because the other tables that came beforehand have not yet ordered? Maybe you could write that down in your shop that everything is served by who sits down first.
Overall, tourist, beware. Don't let them ruin your holiday mood. We are looking forward for a good meal with the high ratings from Google review but was instead welcomed by unpleasant experience. Now I really doubt the credibility of their reviews. To think they can reply to the review like this and turning the tables to make it seems like the issue is with us.

Read moreAmazing!!! We showed up tonight and despite the restaurant being entirely booked out, the owner and staff welcomed us warmly and accommodatingly offered us a takeout option, walking us to a gorgeous spot behind the restaurant / near the river where we could eat. They walked all the way to our spot to bring us our food, insisted we use their bathroom whenever we needed throughout our meal, and checked on us periodically (despite us not being actual restaurant guests or paying gratuity). Service was thus incredible, as was the food. It was incredibly authentic, portions were generous, ingredients were high quality (used baby bean sprouts), pad Thai sauce was unique and homemade, and the owner helped us order, pointing to a few of their best dishes. Overall a wonderful, welcoming, delicious experience and would definitely return. Be sure to book a table in advance! Thank you so much to...
Read moreWe arrived at Mae Lek on a Monday evening without a reservation and were fortunate to take the last available table!
The food was all delicious, portion sizes extremely generous and the service was fantastic. My husband ordered the red curry and was given a taster to make sure the spice level was ok for him, this felt like a very thoughtful touch.
The service was also exceptional; the team made a great effort to talk to each table personally and aimed to make every customer feel special. Ekk really goes the extra mile, and gave recommendations to us and other tables visiting Thun for things to see and do. The personal touch and attentiveness really puts the cherry on top with this lovely family run restaurant.
Highly recommended for delicious Thai food and...
