The worst food and the worst service my husband and I have had in Thun after living here for almost a year and eating at nearly every restaurant in town. We ordered appetizers, drinks, and main course at the same time, directly after arriving. The appetizer came out quickly and then we sat, eating it, for an entire hour, down to the last crumb. The last circa 10 min we sat in front of an empty plate. The table next to us (came in after) got their food before us. Finally, my husband called the waitress over and she asked if we wanted anything else. He explained that we were still waiting on our entrees. She became defensive and took on a rude tone, saying well, this is the appetizer. And he gestured to the empty plate saying, yes, we're done, we've been waiting on our food. And she acted shocked saying "ohhh you wanted it all at once, ok." And then put the order in for the kitchen for the first time. She acted as if we were the stupid ones for not having asked her AGAIN for the food which we had already ordered. This is not how eating in a restaurant has ever worked, unless a special request is made by the customer on timing (it definitely was not). I believe that she forgot to enter the food and was covering her tracks, but either way, she was rude. By then we had finished our drinks, due to the long wait, and I ordered another water, tap this time instead of mineral. She took on a rude tone again, informing me that it would cost 2 francs 50 per person, which I knew. As if I would expect it to be free, because she heard me speaking English with my Swiss husband, though I spoke German with her. The food still took another circa 10 minutes to come out, and after it did, the waitress popped up 4 cm from my ear and shouted to ask if everything was good. It was loud in the restaurant but that was completely unnecessary.
And the food. It was awful. My quesadilla cheese was fried completely separately from the tortilla so that it was greasy and hard, not melted into the tortilla and soft, like a quesadilla should be. The carne inside had no flavor. There were no chilies like one would expect from chili con carne, only cheap filler ingredients like corn, beans, and so so many potatoes (they were so flavorless and dry that I could barely tell they were potatoes). My husband's tacos were stuffed with very cheap, badly flavored, dry chicken, making the tacos hardly edible. The jalapenos on top were cheap, pickled jalapenos, not fresh, like one would expect at this price point. And the problem is not that the food is not authentic, the problem is that it's just really bad food. To be asked to pay more than 70 francs at the end of the meal felt like a joke. The atmosphere was extremely loud and they seat parties of two far too close together. I am shocked and disappointed by this experience in a town with such fantastic restaurants, and I have no idea why this one has such high ratings. We will...
Read moreBeautiful restaurant in a beautiful house. Beautifully decorated, not too much but harmonious without stealing the old room's history. Great selection of beers and a nice, appetising menu. The presentation of the food is creative and like a picture to bite into. But unfortunately most of it is cold or lukewarm... The meat was skimped on the spare ribs, the pulled chicken was tough ... the vegetables weren't grilled properly ... it tastes warmed up...a pity, the concept is great, the execution can still be worked on... the place would have...
Read moreI really love Mexican restaurants so I couldn't leave Thun without trying it. The staff is super friendly and they speak fluent English, the restaurant is in a really impressive building super well decorated. In terms of the food we ordered vegetarian fajita which was simply ok! Not something great not something bad, but just that! Average! I would recommend to work on the seasoning of the vegetables and work on...
