Dining at Léman Bae Steakhouse was a delight and also within walking distance to the Chateau de Chillon; highly recommend for the friendly welcoming service and delicious and excellent food!
ARRIVING / AMBIENCE: We were welcomed warmly by Sergio, the owner into the restaurant which is cozy and quiet. There is a good wine list and options for other drinks as well. The restaurant is located next to the lake, so there are lovely views! There are both inside and outdoor seating, with everything thoughtfully in its place including beautiful placemats.
FOOD: Sergio recommended not only the steaks but also the calamari to start. The CALAMARI was so flavorful and also soft with a good texture! After we said how much we liked it, Sergio revealed that he brought this particular style from his homeland, Portugal. The pieces of squid were cut generously and were served with two kinds of sauces, once a garlic and mayonnaise and coriander sauce, and another is the tartar sauce.
We also ordered the BEEF TARTARE, the classic version, which was one of the smoothest I've ever had, mixed with capers and in a generous portion served with toast and fries, with herbed butter to spread and a refreshing salad on the side.
We also got the TOMAHAWK STEAK for two, which was a generous portion with the bone intact and cut tableside by Sergio which is mesmerizing to watch, from clean slicing from the bone to the salting at the end!
For dessert, we had the FEU ET GLACE fire and ice which was a Cognac baked apple with ice cream on the side plus fruits and pretty presentation; not too sweet and just perfect mix of flavors and temperatures.
We finished our evening with LIMONCELLO, served icy cold from a frosted little "water tower"; which was of course excellent.
SERVICE: Throughout the meal Sergio was very kind and welcoming, never rushed us and went above and beyond to make us comfortable in his restaurant. When he noticed that some of our party preferred different doneness for the steak, he produced a hot plate just for them to accommodate their taste. This was wonderful and really understanding (other places may not have even noticed!).
We would love to come back and try more because everything was delicious and the service level is impeccable....
Read moreIt’s been almost a week, and I’m still thinking about Le’man Bae!
If I could give it a 6, I would.
This is probably one of the few 5.0 Google-rated restaurants I’ve been to, and honestly, we walked in thinking, “There’s no way it’s that good, right?” But wow, we left completely blown away.
The restaurant itself feels super cozy, with a warm atmosphere and a stunning view of Lake Léman—it’s the kind of place where you just want to linger.
We started with the fried cuttlefish, which were lightly breaded and tasted super meaty—so satisfying! Then we had the Swiss Angus fillet and Angus entrecôte (250g each, about 8.8 oz) with sweet potato fries and veggies on the side. The quality of the meat? Incredible. Everything was cooked perfectly and looked amazing too. The beef came with three sauces, but honestly, we barely touched them because the meat was already THAT good. Plus, the roasted garlic basically worked as a sauce on its own!
Just when we thought the meal was over, the owner, Sergio, recommended the Feu et Glace—literally “fire and ice.” It was a braised apple paired with caramel ice cream, and honestly, it was the perfect way to end the meal. Oh, and of course, we couldn’t leave without a little limoncello.
Sergio was so welcoming and added such a personal touch to every dish. You could really feel how much his family inspires him, which made the whole experience even better.
If you’re ever in Montreux, Switzerland, make sure to stop by! It’s right next to Chillon Castle, and trust me, you...
Read moreI have never left a review for a restaurant before on here. This meal was one of the best I've ever had though, period. We actually got there a little late, and they were forgiving and hadn't given away our table. Our food took a little bit, but came out perfect and they were very friendly and checked on us several times. I got the Swiss Angus Filet (medium rare) and it was cooked perfectly. The chimichurri sauce that came with it was perfect. My girlfriend got a burger, and said it was delicious as well. I got vegetables with my meal, and they were also sauteed, perfectly. It came with a whole head of roasted garlic, a whole green pepper, and then some other veggies (tomatoes were particularly good). We got sweet potato fries also, which were very good. Only thing that could have been better maybe was the accompanying bread, which was average and nothing particularly special. But that's being especially picky. We weren't planning on desert, but decided to try it because everything else was so good. We got the baked apple with ice cream, since it was a restaurant special. It was unique and also quite good. Would definitely...
