Lokma — Restaurant in Wädenswil

I’m a bit disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. Starting from the service and ending with the price–portion ratio, things just didn’t go well.

We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation and were fine with waiting a bit, but it took 40 minutes for anyone to come and take our order. We wanted to order a mezze for one person, but the waiter told us it was only available for a minimum of two – something not mentioned anywhere on the menu. Since we planned to share one mezze and manti, we ended up just going with the mezze for two instead.

As you can see in the photo, the amount of food you get for 72 francs is quite disappointing. Considering the portion size, the price feels extremely unreasonable, especially since the mezze contained no meat at all!

On top of that, the food only arrived an hour and a half after we came in. The taste was fine, but nothing special – definitely not enough to justify the wait or the price. There was only one person serving all the tables, which clearly affected the speed and quality of service.

To top it off, after we had finished eating and waited another 20 minutes to get the bill, the waiter came over and asked if we wanted more because he “usually brings more mezze.” This was never mentioned before or written anywhere, and by that point, we were already done and ready to leave.

Seit längerer Zeit hatte ich das Problem im Raum Zürich ein Restaurant zu finden, es mag etwas eitel klingen, welches den Kunden noch als König sieht. Seit ich das erste Mal einen Fuss ins Lokma gesetzt habe, gebe ich wieder gerne mit einem guten Gewissen Geld aus. Bei meinem ersten Besuch hat sich der Besitzer bei meiner Freundin und mir mit seinem Namen vorgestellt und uns begeistert von seinem Konzept erzählt. Ich fühlte mich somit seit dem ersten Wortwechsel willkommen und wichtig. Wir gönnten uns Meze à discrétion und Manti, eine köstliche Auswahl! Die Portionen waren vollkommen ausreichend und jeden Franken wert. Zum Essen bekamen wir ein Glas türkischen Weisswein spendiert, wie es die grosszügige Art des Inhabers eben ist. Abgeschlossen haben wir das Abendessen mit Baklava, welche auf unserer Zunge zerging. Ich werde den Abend nie vergessen, denn meine Freundin und ich hatten nur Freude, da wir uns nicht über fehlende Parkplätze aufregen, nicht zu lange warten und auch wie Gäste in einem persönlichen Haushalt empfangen wurden. Nun war es mir zu dieser schweren Zeit eine Freude bei Lokmas Take-Away Dienst zu bestellen und damit ein so klasse Restaurant zu unterstützen. Natürlich war das Essen wieder köstlich und der kurze Schwatz mit dem Besitzer beim Abholen des Essens sehr freundlich, wenn nicht schon freundschaftlich! Really friendly hospitality, decent food but the prices are about 3 x what we pay in London and it isn’t to the same standard or portion size (sorry!). We had hummus, bulgar, aubergine - all very small. A salad, and the lentil kofte which are small bites of lentils that come cold and placed on a little lettuce leaf.
