We had made a reservation for dinner and decided to go with the set menu. However, the food turned out to be quite mediocre; in fact, we can't recall any of the dishes we had, except for one course that tasted bad. We deeply regretted our decision to dine at this restaurant; the time and money spent were simply not worth it.
To make matters worse, we had a very unpleasant encounter with one of the staff members responsible for reception. We were standing in the middle of the entrance room, waiting to be seated, with a line of guests behind us. A staff member approached and, with a friendly smile, apologized to the couple behind us for the long wait. Eventually, she came out again, addressed the couple behind us, and was about to seat them. However, the couple realized that we were ahead of them and asked, "What about them?" At the same time, I asked her, "Why don't you address us?" It appeared that she had overlooked our presence as the first in line, but she quickly corrected her mistake and led us to our table.
This incident left us feeling as though we were invisible to that particular staff member. It's worth noting that there were two of us, both of Asian descent, while the couple behind us was white. We can't help but wonder if this played a role in her behavior. It's unfortunate that such biases may have clouded her judgment when dealing with customers, and we hope for more inclusive and respectful treatment...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel with 36 others, part of the Great Rail Journey. On arrival we were given a form to fill out with name and address plus date of birth, and our room key. We were supposed to be given a travel card, but when we reached our room we found we did not have the card. My wife explained to the old receptionist who basically told her she had lost it and that it was definitely handed to her. My wife was extremely upset and when I challenged the receptionist and explained that she was not treating their guests correctly, she just said “when you find it please return it to her” Later that day, several couples asked for a fan for the rooms as it was stifling in them and you literally could not sit the rooms, they were told that a fan will cost 10 Swiss francs a day, that’s over £70. We were told there would be Swiss power adapters supplied, but again we had to pay deposits. We were told a picnic lunch would be provided, this turned out to be 4 cheese or ham the size of Malt loaf, roughly wrapped in cling film, then thrown in a plastic bag, by 10 o’clock they were just a greasy mess. My wife asked for a vegetarian option on night and was served rice and pea risotto with 2 slices of potato cooked in breadcrumbs, not only did it look awful it was inedible. We upgrade to a better suite, which had a cooker, but no crockery or cooking utensils, with a note saying cooking in the room was...
Read moreAbsolute racist behaviour. The owner was casually talking to a guest just before us while we stood right there waiting for our turn. When the previous gentleman left, my wife approached her warmly. We said Hi and stood there. She coldly kept looking into her screen. We said excuse me again. She didn't bother. We stood there for a while, she didn't care. We left, she got up from her chair to do something else. I'm not sure what gives people in hospitality business the right to choose to treat people differently. You may be a Michelin Star (and now I wish even Michelin reconsiders their rating with such snooty attitude) you're still getting paid well enough (to every penny you desire) for your food. Maybe charge a little extra for some hospitality, or come to India....we can definitely give you a lesson or two.
