A Hidden Gem in Zurich – Restaurant Garhwal
Dining at Garhwal is not just a meal — it’s a heartfelt experience that brings the authentic flavors of India alive in the heart of Zurich. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful place several times, and each visit only deepens my appreciation for the people behind it and the incredible food they serve.
A big thank you to Akash and Vikas, whose passion and hospitality shine through in every detail — from the beautifully curated menu to the personal attention given to guests. Meeting their lovely parents, who add such warmth and grace to the atmosphere, is always a joy. And of course, a special mention to Sebastian and the entire Garhwal team — your kindness, energy, and dedication make the dining experience truly memorable.
A very special appreciation goes to Uncle — their father and the Chef — the flavors he brings to every dish are exceptional. His cooking is the soul of Garhwal, rooted in tradition and elevated with finesse. You can truly taste the love and depth in every bite.
As for the food — it’s nothing short of outstanding, and I would rate it as one of the best Indian dining experiences in all of Europe. Personal favorites include the rich and perfectly spiced Rada Paneer, the delicious Lamb Paper Fry and Chicken Paper Fry, the hearty Pahadi Roti, the melt-in-your-mouth Kofta, and the aromatic Fried Rice. Each dish is crafted with care, balance, and authenticity.
Garhwal isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a celebration of Indian cuisine, culture, and the warmth of a family-run place that puts heart into everything. Thank you all for making it such a special part of Zurich. Looking forward to many more meals to come!

Read moreFor people traveling to Zurich, please visit Indian Restaurant Garhwal. Its only 4 months old. The setting is very nice. Service was excellent and personalized. The highlight is the food. We visited in the afternoon and tried their fish and prawn Thali. Luckily, the fish thali had king fish and the chef prepared king fish pepper fry as the starter only because we asked if it was possible to make fish fry. The portion sizes were huge and it came with a free dessert, options were rasmalai and gulab jamun. Both were not too sweet and perfect. This experience lead us to visit the place again in the evening and we had papdi tikki chaat and pahadi chicken (chicken on the bone) as the latter came recommended by the owner as they are from Uttarakhand.we must say, this was the star of the day. It was like you were invited to somebody's place and their mum had cooked the curry for you. You WILL NOT FIND this kind of cooking at a restaurant and you will be lucky if you got invited to somebody's place for this meal. Highly highly recommend this place. Do plan a visit soon. Price point - it was very good when I compare it to most restaurants in Switzerland that we have visited. Plus it's...
