CHF 421 for discomfort and disregard.

We visited Hönggerhof as a group of four. The owner welcomed us warmly and even shook hands at the end -- a rare gesture in Zürich -- and the starters were good. But the rest of the evening didn't live up to expectations. Our antipasto came with only three olives for four people. We asked clearly for wine with the meat, yet two glasses arrived early, sat in the sun, and lost their chill. They were replaced without charge, but instead of simply owning the mistake, the server made an excuse.

Meanwhile, we sat sweating under the evening sun with no umbrella adjustment despite asking twice. Promised tableside service was only done for the fish, while the tomahawk returned already portioned, unevenly cooked, and lacking any grilled depth -- more oven roast than steakhouse cut. The sea bass was dry, skinless, and had four bones. A billing error on the sides was corrected, but at CHF 421, details like this matter. Warm hospitality alone couldn't make up for a night that left us feeling disregarded and...

A very stylish and modern Italian restaurant which is inclined towards fine-dining.

Food quality is very high, combined with very good presentation. Service was also very good but the staff seemed to be just a bit “stretched” at peak time on Saturday evening. But it was extremely busy. Otherwise, service/advice regarding wine / dishes etc was excellent.

The staff and owner are very enthusiastic, friendly and attentive to the guests.

My dishes (which were marvelous) were Osso Buco and Ravioli Brasato. My wife had the Salmon Tartare and Spaghetti alla Chitarra. The portion sizes were also larger than expected, when ordered as a main course size.

One must book well in advance here in order to secure a table reservation. I can highly recommend this restaurant and I am looking forward to...

Ein Höngger geht gerne in Höngg zum Essen. Wir waren zu viert zum Essen. Die Bedienung habe ich als "Normal" empfunden, doch Normal sollte sie ja nicht sein, wir vermissten die Aufmerksamkeit gegenüber dem Gast. Für das es sehr wenige Gäste hatte, mussten wir lange auf das Essen warten. Für die Gäste mit grossem Hunger empfehle ich zuhause eine Vorspeise zu sich zunehmen, denn die Portionen stehen nicht im Einklang mit dem Preis der dafür verlangt wird. Berufes wegen war ich als Reiseleiter Tag täglich in Restaurants und Hotels und kenne mich da schon einwenig aus. Auch heute noch verpflegen wir uns 2-3 Mal pro Woche auswärts, meist in Höngg oder nahe zu Höngg. Wenn man mehr Gewicht für einen guten Service und gutes mediterranes Essen der Aussicht vorzieht, dann stimmt für uns bei den Restaurants Osteria da Biagio (Limmatberg) und Il Pantheon alles. Ich wünsche jedem Wirt/Wirtin nebst einem guten Start auch das es möglichst lange bestehen bleibt, doch habe ich beim Hönggerhof meine Zweifel. Für die Wirtin und ihr Personal hoffe ich aber das mein Gefühl sich täuscht. Je ein Stern ist weggefallen für: -Aufmerksamkeit -langes Warten -Preis/Leistung
