King Beef Beef and Noodle Restaurant — Restaurant in Beitou

We didn’t have much of any expectations, didn’t even know about the restaurant till a local friend introduced us to it. We got there a little after noon and the place was filled full of diners and a few came to pick up their to-go lunches. We waited for about 15-20min before being seated.

This beef noodle soup shop only serves clear broth (清燉）, using various different cuts of beef, bones, tongue, hearts, and even balls... you name it, they probably have it.

We ordered a beef noodle soup, curry fried noodles and a couple of small dishes to share. The soup was clear but the flavor is amazing? Loaded with umami and the ginger cuts off the gaminess of beef, and makes it really refreshing. The noodles were good and the tripe was surprisingly tasty and the texture was perfect.

I don't agree with the 1 star review from Ms Gao 5 yrs ago. Don't forget that you're there for the beef noodle so focus on that dish alone, that's what readers want to know. This place only sells the clear broth version and it's the best beef noodle overall that I've had in less a week of trying out about 6 popular establishments. I find the noodle to be too chewy at most places and the beef too dry. I don't recommend 吳家on the same street at all, no idea how it manages to fill the many tables it has, instead go next door to 志明and try their famous clear broth beef noodle. I like their soup base even better than 金春but noodle let the dish down overall, shame. Oh, one thing that beef lovers might not like about 金春is that the beef is cut too fine, so not much texture is to be had. Amazing dining experience at a Taiwanese classic. Every dish was full of stir fry flavor, and complemented very well with each other.
