Looks can be deceiving.
The exterior of the restaurant makes it seem like a small space and slightly unwelcoming. But when you walk in, it's surprisingly big and nice ambiance.
Service was very good and friendly.
The food was delicious too. We ordered a pan fried chicken curry. The plating of the dish was very fun and interactive. You have to use a mortar and pestil to crush the peanut and sesame seed to pour over the curry. The presentation just draws you in and makes you want to eat it.
The meal comes with miso soup as well. The soup had actual bonito flakes in it. It is very delicious and not salty.
The curry itself was also not salty as well. However, it feels like the vegetables were boiled in water and dumped into the dish so it had no flavor. The chicken breast meat was very tender.
Overall, it tastes kind of like the golden curry brand of japanese curry cubes you buy at the grocery store.
The bathroom had 1 stall for women and 1 stall for men. But for the men stall, there's no toilet just a urinal. Would be interesting for those who need to take a sh*t.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal. But is it the curry that makes me want to come back again?...

Edit: I think it'd be fair to the general audience for you to note that the reason why there are a lot of high ratings of this place is because they offer you free tempura prawns if you leave a review on Google or Fb, as well as mini fried pork cutlets if you become a member for free. Truth be told, the food is definitely good, just not out of this world.
One thing as well is that they insist on a minimum set meal per person, which is annoying because as you can see the portions are huge, and we then had to force ourselves to finish the food and still have wastage, which made the experience not as enjoyable towards the end when we had to struggle to to try and finish it. It'd be better if they didn't have to and leave it to customers to decide, then at least we'd happily return again knowing that we are given that choice. I'd rather that so we don't end up wasting...
Read moreThis was by far the most disappointing meal I had in Chiayi. The staff were great and I even won a free drink from the raffle. However, the food itself was pretty bland. I’m not sure what happened if they were just closing and rushing but it kind of reminded me of when you make instant noodles and put too much water. You wanted it to taste good but it just can’t. I couldn’t even eat it. I got the curry beef soup with a side of karaage chicken. The chicken was good but the curry itself was the letdown. Maybe get their other set if you’re...
