My friends and I visited Mianto two days ago for dinner. The interior was clean, brightly lit, and welcoming. We noticed some beautiful decorations on the walls, but more about them later. The staff was friendly and courteous, and since none of us speak or read Chinese, they were extremely helpful while we were ordering.
This was what the three of us ordered: mushroom soup (app) caprese salad (app) bunny chow (deluxe dish) arrabbiata (main) eggplant fettucine (main) rooibos tea (drink) rose and berry tearose flower tea (drink)
I didn't take any pictures of the dishes, but they looked exactly like the pictures on the menu. First of all, I will enthusiastically state that I plan to come back. There were many other dishes I wanted to try, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered.
These are the highlights of our meal: The mushroom soup was so earthy and comforting. I am already a fan of mushroom soup, and their version tasted like distilled mushroom essence. It reminded me of sitting in front of a hearth with a warm fire on a chill night. It was a perfect start to our meal. The bunny chow was really interesting. It reminded me of shepherd's pie, and I would consider it a must try. The bread was flaky and cut easily. Filled with curry, by the time we got to it, the curry had soaked into the bread so that every bite was filled with delicious curry peppery goodness. Don't worry, there are no actual bunnies in this dish. We ordered our arrabiata medium spicy. I like a spicy dish, but not toooo spicy, so medium was a good level. It was tangy and sharp. If I'm in the mood for something with a bite, I would get this again. The eggplant fettucine was delicious, a nice solid entree. I would order it every time. Disclaimer: I love eggplant! My beverage was the hot rooibos tea, but the next time I want to order the hot rose and berry tearose flower tea. It was so aromatic, I can't wait to drink it myself.
As I mentioned earlier, none of us speak or read Chinese, but our server spoke great English and helped us order since struggling through an online-bsaed menu system would have been a bit more difficult. Thank you so much for that! Also, I need to mention that Michelle, the head chef and proprietor, is a spitfire! If you get the chance to say hello to her, please do. She is a total hoot and has so many stories to share! Definitely she is a...
Mianto
Read moreI reached the restaurant, Mianto,a tad bit late with just about 30 minutes left to close.
I was greeted by the server and seated on the table in a couple of minutes. She then explained the menu to me and described how each dish would possibly taste.
I made a selection and requested a small alteration to the main course which they gladly accepted.
To start with, I was served a nice fresh glass of juice, followed by vegan bread accompanied by olive oil, balsamic vinegar and green pitted olives with Pimento
This was Followed by a fabulous corn soup, and the main course.
The main course was a large bowl of fried rice with tofu and assorted vegetables accompanied with vegetables in a spicy Sichuan flavoured gravy bowl.
I chose tiramisu as the dessert, which was very well made.
The chef, Michele, came out to check if everything was okay.
It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely go back to this restaurant! Highly...
