Yo Sushi Jinhua — Restaurant in Da'an District

Come prepared to spend at least 1000NTD for whatever the sushi chef feels like preparing for you. You can suggest a target spend limit in advance, but 500 is far too low we were told. You can make requests for specific types of fish if you know what you want, or just inform them of anything you don't eat and let them do the rest. Very nice how they serve you approximately one item at a time, with the back kitchen coming out with non-sushi tasty items in between every now and then.

Place was fully booked in advance by 7:30pm on Friday, so while our walk-in at 6:40 didn't give us a lot of time to eat, it was just enough to eat quality dishes to a satisfying comfort level, including a little piece of dessert at the end. For 1100NTD a person (and could easily have gotten pricier had we not stated up front that we were aiming for about 1k), it was an enjoyable meal filled with nicely paced food, a clean view of watching our sushi chef in action, and...

Food is good but please be noted that you will be charged unexpectedly high cost. Becasue this place’s ‘omakase’ menu doesn’t have a fixed price unlike other restaurant. Chef never showed or asked us what we want to eat, so I & my friends thought It’s normal ‘omakase’ with fixed course + special piece of sushi. However, even encore sushi was charged- And actually, restaurant charged too many pieces of sushi - which we never ordered but provided by Chef. They should have explained it. We paid too much and felt this place has no service mind and actually felt It’s fraud.

And during service, Chef made a piece of sushi and ate it in front of us...... so shocking. I’ve never exprienced it in other sushi restaurants. It’s just so unprofessional and disappointing.

The food was generally okay (some was good, some was regular), but the quality of service was terrible. It was the first and last time we went there. The chef was talking with other people, didn't care about us, barely explained us meals, didn't ask what we would prefer and he was super slow. That slow that we were looking at other people eating, while waiting for god knows what. We literally felt like 2nd class customers. Not to mention the fact that we paid 7000 NTD for 2 people (without wine/sake), which is ridiculously high price for this service, quality of food and type of restaurant.
