My husband and I stayed here for two nights from 11/23-11/25 (Fri-Sun) in a double bunk bed in a mixed dormitory on the second floor. Key card is used for the elevator, to enter the sleeping area, to open under-bed lockers, and to enter the building after hours. You can enter the hostel via the main door or through the attached coffee shop.
When you exit the elevator, you're on a balcony type area that is open to the outside. There is a shoe locker area with slippers to wear into the bathroom. Washer and dryer were also available. The entrance to the bathroom/shower area is to the left. To the right is the door into the dormitory with 10-12 single and double capsule beds. No shoes in the dormitory.
Location was SO convenient for the MRT! Maybe a 30 second walk from the front door to entrance 3 of the Dongmen MRT station. Check out Dongmen Market just west of the hostel across the street. We went to get breakfast and it seemed to be just locals. We got fruit from 一成蔬果店 the first morning (beautiful fruit market!), but according to a guy at the hostel, Dongmen Market is cheaper.
The sleeping area was very clean and comfortable. Locker beneath bed was very convenient. It beeps every time you open it, which seemed like it could bother people sleeping. The table/lamp/plugs next to the bed were very convenient, with hangers on a rod above for clothes. The shade to close off the bed was great.
The bathroom had two toilet stalls, two showers, and two sinks. The shower stalls had an area with a basket to place your clothes or hang beneath, so you can change inside. There was a blow dryer on the wall by the sinks. One of the shower heads was broken on our first day so was not usable, but it was fixed the next day. Towels cost extra to rent (I think 50NT?). Thin but pretty big.
Did not eat anything provided at the hostel for breakfast, but saw some white bread and spreads in the kitchen. The kitchen was well equipped with cooking items and condiments. We used a cutting board and knife to cut up fruit. Fridge is available for use (must label). The coffee shop attached to the hostel was very nice, and we got a discount for...
Read moreWe stayed for one week in this hostel and we totally recommend it.
The location is just perfect: it’s in a very vivid commercial area, in front of a local morning market and walking distance to many tourist attractions and some of the best food spots in the city that are open until late at night (and a 24/7 convenience store on the corner). To go around Taipei from there is super easy: there’s a subway station, buses, and public bikes right at the doorstep.
We stayed in the double capsule room in the mixed dormitory and we had a super comfortable stay. The mattress is very big and comfy, the two of us fit very well. The capsule is also tall enough for you to sit and go in and out smoothly. There’s extra space inside the capsule with a table to keep your things at hand and tidy, which is a big plus. I also loved that we had two individual lights so I could stay up reading without bothering my boyfriend. The space in the locker is big and it fitted our two 60lts backpacks plus our small backpack. The capsule also has a blackout curtain, with gave us privacy and darkness at night.
The toilets are enough for the people staying and were always very clean. They provide shower gel and shampoo and you can rent towels there for a very cheap price.
The wifi is fast and reliable and there’s a common area on the first floor where you can eat, work, or chill. There’s also a very nice terrace on the 4th floor that’s perfect for chilling at night.
They provide free breakfast every morning and there’s free coffee, tea and drinking water 24/7. There’s a kitchen you can use well equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster, electric oven, stove, and kettle. They also have a coffee shop at the entrance which is very nice.
Finally, the staff is super warm and made us feel at home. We had a lot of interesting chats about Taipei and Taiwan culture, and they gave us excellent tips to move around.
We would definitely stay here again! Thank you so much for a...
Read moreThey only clean rooms during checkout Lack of some amenities (no towel, no toothpaste and toothbrush) they only provide shower gel and shampoo which is almost empty They don't allow you to change room Bidet is too stiff and the pressure is too low Shower isn't attached properly you can easily tear it down. Also the bathroom cubicles can be easily be seen if someone has a mirror and peak on it at the top. The height is not enough!! In the capsule room, the ladder is too steep. And the railing is to wide. You can easily fall if you are thin and small while sleeping
The receptionist doesn't speak any english not even the basic English. I will add more photos when I get free time. There's also spider webs as you can see. Also I forgot to mention there was no one manning the area at night. I woke up in the middle of the night to use the toilet and somebody did not flush their s!t feces. It's overflowing with tissue And s__t. Truly a nightmare to behold!
During the nighttime, you can hear every one snoring and talking and walking. The partition is made of cheap thin plywood.
I asked for a room change but they don't care!
The staff are not properly trained and unprofessional.
Avoid this place at all cost.
The only good thing about this hostel is its near the mrt dongmen Station.
This is the smallest hostel I've been to. It only has TWO bathrooms for 10-16 people! There are not air ventilation, its not really a capsule hotel. It's just made up to be a...
