Sashimi & sushi lovers, do not miss this place! Absolutely fantastic, super fresh, sweet tasting fish at great prices.

As you walk into the market (from the direction of the ferry terminal) resist the approaches of the salespeople. Go into the center of the market and there's a chain of stalls where the locals are eating.

We had the mixed sashimi plate, premium tuna selection, beef and salmon roe roll and sea urchin roll, with miso soup that had small chunks of cooked salmon in it.

All excellent, melt in the mouth. As good as anything we had in Osaka or Tokyo markets.

In our opinion, the mixed sashimi plate and premium tuna selection were of a very similar quality. My wife said the sea urchin (uni) was very fresh and sweet.

The Taiwanese beer went well with the fish, but we will probably go for cold sake next...

Visited the market on a Monday at 10am where not all the stalls were open. However, this made it easier for us to spot the dried seafood stalls that we were after. Upon completing our purchase of sakura ebi, dried anchovies and fish floss the market got quite crowded with a number of visitors. Instead of lunching at the market, we headed to Yi Zi Seafood Restaurant on Gang Yuan Rd Sec 3. There, we ordered black tuna sashimi, a lovely steamed fish, some boiled squid and 2 dishes flavoured with sakura ebi; fried rice and fried cabbage. The meal cost us only about S$100+. The restaurant gave us a complimentary conch appetiser and a tau suan dessert. We really enjoyed the tau suan which was boiled with dried longan and starch bits.
