Among various food items the star of the meal obviously was supposed to be bluefin tuna. The combo sashimi plate we ordered (NT1500) consisted of, in ascending order of fat content, normal lean (I’ll call it that), mid belly, upper belly, and the coveted “golden triangle”; 3 slices of each. Before digging in we wanted to confirm the order of consumption and the server firstly could not identify which parts accurately and erroneously advised us the reverse order. Sensing her uncertainty and managed to sort that out with another server. The most disappointing however was the quality of the slices from the “golden triangle” which exhibited a pale pink greyish color different from other customers’. Theirs looked closer to marbled wagyu. Then came the unreasonable amount of veins from the most expensive part of the fish, definitely not melt in your mouth. The shop did try to make good but the replacements were of the same color, but did improve on the veins because the chef made sure to finely score the sashimi slices, cutting the veins extremely. Otoro suppose to taste buttery, smooth and rich, however it was quite a disappointment that I didn’t even taste the freshness and the sweetness of the fish. Some of the other tuna sashimi are chewy and the temperature just wasn’t right.
Maybe I wasn’t served with the best cut. But for me, quality of the “Extra Fatty Belly” here doesn’t worth NTD 250 per single piece.
Overall, the sashimi taste average but oyster is really fresh and tasty on that day.
