Sorry to give one star. They really earned it. Read on. Food was pretty good for any normal Taiwan restaurant but calling Italian may be pushing it. Staff typically couldn’t figure out what to do on a quiet Sunday evening when we hadn’t booked. Took 5 minutes to get to the empty table next to us. Beer was mostly sold out, even the ones “in stock”. The daily fish, all the cheese dishes, pasta, watermelon, some of the desserts sold out, it’s an issue with a small menu if you’re not into fish. Went for the beef rib, was very nicely cooked with real smoked finish and fresh light salad. Nothing else. Unfortunately meat had almost zero flavour and it was a real letdown every bite for almost $30 US. Most other dishes seem to be laden with Taiwan’s heavy risotto style rice and no other sides including my wife’s duck. Flatbread was good but guacamole was from a jar or similar. Well the winning ticket was when they forgot my daughters duck main course. Then when they realized they told us the kitchen was closed. They couldn’t do anything about it. I carefully stated otherwise and finally they offered two pasta dishes. We ordered one and they came back a few minutes later sold out. We asked to speak with the chef. Some reheated sloppy potatoes came over another few minutes later followed by the waitress 5 minutes after who argued we only ordered two main dishes despite 3 people and infant sitting down. Desserts looked great but only tasted average. By this point my wife just wanted to get out of there. The bill showed a charge for our infant of $9 US for a handful of shrimps and a total of $110 US which is huge in Taiwan with only one alcoholic drink (beer) on the table. Also the reheated potatoes were billed at $6!! I just couldn’t add up two meals, two starters, two desserts and a few drinks with the events to that total. Words failed me but I think they could read my face. I asked for the boss; not present; left them with $84 and the chance to explain to their boss why it was short of their imagined takings for the evening. You may get lucky, just don’t set false expectations. Typical restaurant with no idea what service or a customer is. Try Smokey Joes down the road. Really much better all round and some quality...
Read moreHugely disappointing. Probably the worst dining experience I've ever had in Taiwan. We booked a table the day before, arrived on time & were seated at a kitchen counter (the kitchen staff were also using it to prepare food) right next to the toilet area (without even a door to separate us from the toilet smells & noises). When I complained that we had booked a "table", not a squashed-in counter space, I was rudely offered a table outside in the midday heat of summer. They then offered us the counter in the reception area of the upstairs accommodation, which we accepted as it was better than being almost in the bathroom area! My main course arrived before the starter. When we asked for the starter, the waiter was very surprised, "Oh, did you want the starter first?" 😏 Really? Why call it a "starter" then? The camembert starter was way overcooked ‐ which is probably why it took 30 minutes to arrive. Both pastas we had ordered were the most ordinary, boring pastas we've ever eaten. And they didn't even bother to make me a fresh pasta dish after bringing it before the starter. They had obviously kept it in a warmer while we were having the starter - the pasta was dry & stuck together like glue. The worst part of the whole experience was the attitude of the staff. You wouldn't think that WE were the customers. We were treated as if they were doing us a huge favor allowing us to eat at their restaurant. They don't seem to have any idea what customer service means. Do not waste your...
Read moreCame to this highly recommend chain restaurant on Google in the southern part of Taiwan.
People were queuing up 30 minutes before the it opens. We didn't wait long to be seated and got our order taken. Food serving was pretty fast for a packed restaurant and they were tasty.
The open kitchen located in the middle of the long narrow restaurant, which is kind of in the way for guests to go to the bathroom. However, it was interesting to watch how chef's work in the open kitchen.
Couple suggestions. The white wait staff uniform all look pretty worn out, like the very old T-shirt you wear to paint and clean up your garage. We were told while making the reservation that we have 90 minutes to dine. By the 80th minutes, there were few empty seats in the restaurant and no queue outside. The wait staff came and told us and the table next to us that our time is almost up, and please process to the cashier. Well, I just think she could've put it in a more professional way since there was no need to turn...
