TASTy Zhonghe Bannan Branch — Restaurant in New Taipei

Tasty is the type of restaurant I imagine you go to because you’re celebrating a special occasion. It would also be a great place to have your last dinner in Taipei or to kick off your vacation here. Come hungry because most folks order the set dinners.

We started with a complimentary curry asparagus dish and then moved on to our choice of salad. I had the potato salad. Both were lovely.

My son got the child set and enjoyed the pumpkin soup. I had a taste and it’s smooth and creamy. Each course is prompt and well timed. I don’t have a good picture of the potato salad because I ate it too quickly. The bread basket came with individual portions of a mushroom gravy roux, but it was a bit too heavy for me. It was around this time that my youngest said, “Tasty. This place is actually tasty.” Then his child set came and the server offered to cut the chicken up for him 🥹. My other son got the roasted chicken party platter which I don’t recommend. The chicken was good but the rest was mediocrely fried. The child set provides a far better balanced meal option.

Now on to the meat critique. If you have an American palette, don’t get the beef teppenyaki. They don’t let you have it medium rare and insist that it’s cooked to white. My husband got the black pepper steak which was miles better.

好久沒吃西堤忘記他的品質是這樣子

The first dish (starter) was ok! Actually better than a lot other dishes

The salad, the veggies were good but the duck breast was a MEH

Hot chocolate was good

The bread was fluffy but not much texture and the sauce (potato? Forgot what it was) was okay. Not much flavor

The soup was just an ok too, I mean there were a lot of stuff inside but it’s not flavorful

The drink they offered to fresh it up was pretty good (one of the things that mark my memory)

The steak was the most disappointing one! LOL this is medium rare? (5分熟？ more like 8分熟吧) the steak at the night market is much better LOL but I guess night market ain’t much more expensive than this. But I added $150 for this steak so the whole meal is almost $800
