TASTY — Restaurant in New Taipei

You can only order a complete dinner here by choosing your salad, soup, meat, drink and dessert at a set price, no ala cárte here. You will also need to order how well you want your steak cooked, either a 5, 7 or 9, which represent 50% cooked, 70% cooked and 90% cooked. I normally eat my steaks in medium rare, so I went with the lowest level at 5 against the server’s suggestion of a 7. As it turned out, a 5 is like a medium, so it was overcooked for my taste. I do believe people in Taiwan does shy away from what they think is a bloody steak (medium rare steaks don’t actually have blood dripping, but rather it’s steak’s natural juice). Unfortunately, I couldn’t order a 3 or 4. The appetizer, salad and soup weren’t very good; however my pana cotta dessert with passion fruit and latte were quite good. We also ordered a shareable plate of fried food with grilled chicken wings. I won’t recommend this dish as it was tasteless and not crispy at all. Restaurant is beautifully designed for special occasions. Prices are fixed with additional depending on the main course you select. Value is 5/5 Service is 4/5 only because they are busy and a little under staffed Food is 4/5 every other course are good except for the main, steak is a little too plain, unlike other dishes which are beautifully flavored Atmosphere & Decoration is 4/5 the seats are a little congested and there are many family around the area that dines here, it may be a little loud depending on time

Lots of food for a reasonable price. Set now includes 4 pre-main courses (appetizer, bread, soup, salad), the main course, drink and dessert. I don’t know if anyone can finish everything. Two in our party upgraded to the New York filet, but were told that they could only get it medium well (7分). They wanted medium rare and the restaurant wouldn’t prepare it that way.
