Tasty — Restaurant in New Taipei

The place is spacious. I was escorted to my table after giving them my information. The waiter and waitresses were attentive. I was immediately assigned to a waitresses that could speak English (I know very little Mandarin). The food presentation was not the best but the food actually tasted good. I opted to have the classic set. The salad is nothing special. The bread with mushroom gratin was okay. I started to enjoy the food when I had the pumpkin mushroom soup. I like the contrasting flavor of the pumpkin and the cured dried mushroom. I ordered a medium steak but I really wanted medium rare. Surprisingly, the steak looked medium rare to me. It was quite juicy. The sour lemon ice smoothie was a perfect pair with the steak. They'll do refills too which is awesome. For dessert, I chose classic cheesecake and herb tea to drink. The cheesecake reminded me of cheesecake factory. It was creamy and thick. The slice was enough after eating all the food. My mom wanted to come here for Mother's Day dinner on Friday because it's close to her house. Easy to make a reservation online. Most of the food was okay. My beef wellington was supposed to be medium or 五分熟 but it was way over cooked. The sauce was flavorless. No idea why they don't do a classic red wine sauce. Just dumb. I also don't know why they precut it either. The presentation is not pretty, and one of the joys of a beef wellington is cutting it open yourself.

The starter and dessert were the best parts. My capybara panna cotta was very cute.

Ordered a side of their truffle fries. Very bland. Asked for ketchup. They don't have any 😒. Food comes out in batches on plastic carts like a cheap cafeteria. Food also comes out at different times so some people at the table are waiting to eat.

Service started off very brusque but got a little better. When it came time to pay, something was wrong with their machines. Took forever and they didn't give me a receipt.

A lot of food, with appetizer, salad, soup. main, dessert and drink. Salad was fresh, although had too much sauce. The soup was good, with decent flavor and beef that had been cooked well.
