While I'm not saying this is a "5 Star" restaurant, I am suggesting that it's unlikely you're going to find a combination of better food, relaxing setting, good service, and even general cleanliness, than this place, anywhere close to here.
We ordered 5 dishes, and from the basil fritters to the braised lamb stew, each was flavourful, without any of the typically Taiwanese problems of being "too oily, too salty, too bland, too under-seasoned, too starchy, or too watery". Even the batter on the fried shrimp with pineapple was light and crispy, without the heavy, oily taste. Yummy 😋 all around!
Add to that a wonderful view of the valley and surrounding mountains, with a choice of dining inside or outside, friendly, attentive staff, and general cleanliness, and this would be hard to beat as a stop for lunch or dinner while traveling through to and around the Chinching Farm area.
The ONLY complaint I could place is about a small speaker in the corner of the dining deck, playing horribly camp saxophone music (the same elevator-music of Kenny G you hear joked about so often) that we did not need... ugh. But taking in everything else, we did our best to...
Read moreThe B&B I stayed recommended this restaurant… checking through the good rating of Google, I decided to give it a try, further they provide shuttle to ferry the customer to the restaurant plus return trip as well after the meal. This service really a big plus. The steam Trout fish, fish soup & Roast Chicken (in gigantic urn) made our dinner complete with high note. The even & Hugh latent heat in the urn ooze out the fat from the fat underneath the chicken skin, one can savor the well marinated skin w/o guilt. The pepper salt also add more spice to the already juicy flesh. This is a no-regret must order dish. As for the fish soup, in order to enjoy its best taste, i suggest to keep the soup boiled under the heat, until the broth turn cloudy, the ginger slice blend well with the umami taste, a simple yet very tasty dish. The restaurant called the fish mountain trout, though they farmed in fresh water but surprisingly there was no “mud-taste” which present in most fresh water fish. A very happy &...
Read moreThe standout dish of the meal was the roast chicken. The portion was generous, and the chicken was succulent and perfectly roasted. Each bite was a savoury delight, and I couldn't get enough of it. For our seafood fix, we opted for the steamed trout and the trout soup. The steamed fish was exceptionally fresh, and its natural flavours shone through. However, it was the trout soup that surprised us. At first, it appeared deceptively light, almost like plain water. But as it simmered, the taste of the fish and the various ingredients infused into the soup, creating a rich and tasty broth. I would highly recommend enjoying the soup after your meal to appreciate its flavours truly. The salad we ordered was a refreshing side, adding a healthy touch to the meal. On the downside, the mountain pork dish left something to be desired. It was a bit too tough for my liking, which was disappointing considering the high quality of the...
