We had high hopes for this restaurant after being attracted by the free shuttle service from our minsu, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing, particularly for a group of 10 adults and 2 toddlers.
The evening started off on a rough note when we were picked up 15 minutes late due to delays with other customers. Upon arriving at the restaurant around 7 pm, we were informed that they close at 8 pm. Given the size of our group, we expressed concern about not having enough time to eat. The staff assured us we could stay until 8:30 pm, so we decided to go ahead and order one of their larger and more expensive sets.
However, at around 7:45 pm, a plump lady (who seemed to be in charge, though I would be very surprised if she was actually the boss with such a poor service attitude) came over to inform us that our dining time would only be extended until 8:20 pm. When we reminded her that we had been told we could stay until 8:30 pm, she became defensive, insisting she had clearly stated the restaurant closed at 8 pm. She then explained that the staff and driver needed to rest, and that there would be overtime costs.
This was frustrating because we had been promised the extra time and were now being told to hurry up. A simple warning at the start that we wouldn’t have enough time to finish our meal would have been much appreciated, and we could have adjusted our order accordingly. Instead, the sudden change in the timeline felt inconsiderate and left us scrambling to rush through our meal.
While the food itself was decent, the overall experience was marred by poor communication and a lack of flexibility. A bit more transparency and consideration for the guests' needs could have made all the difference. In fact, don't even accept our group if you intend to rush us.
Overall, beware of the promises made by the staff, as they seem to conflict with the direction of those in charge. On a positive note, we do want to commend the driver for being considerate and friendly, which was one small saving grace during an otherwise...
Read moreThis restaurant’s food fell short so much compared to an amazing meal I had the night before (in my other Google review) in cingjing. Service was absolutely horrible and non existent. I only review food that is really good or really bad and this belongs to the latter.
Ordered one of their signature red yeast pork which required 20 mins of cooking time… only to have it served up in 5 mins COLD. When I raised my hand up, service crew who attended turn her head away. Eventually they did send it back to the kitchen to reheat it.
Their gaolicai frying style is a little raw for my liking but the caipudan is good,
Every table had a kettle of tea upon seated and mine was only served midway into my meal after my dad ask about tea. Is it because my spending is not as much as others that’s why the service is so bad?
Feedback to one of the crew about my overall unhappiness and to his defense, red yeast pork is served room temperature in Taiwan. Then what’s with the 20mins wait time indicated in the menu? Smoking me?
Unless you are staying nearby or not fussy with your food, you are better off spending the money elsewhere. Seriously. 1/5 experience. Terrible and not...
Read moreWe tried the fresh shrimp set for NT2480. It includes a whole roasted chicken (takes about 22 minutes to be ready). You peel it yourself, which is a fun experience, though the gloves provided might be snug if you have bigger hands. The chicken is cooked in a stone pit, giving it a slight smoky aroma, and while it's moist, the flavor is fairly average. The crispy shrimp was a bit dry, but the tofu with fermented bean paste was decent. The stir-fried cabbage was savory, and the traditional pork liver dish was overly dry with a strong pork aroma. The chicken soup with shiitake mushrooms, which you can refill, was warming on a cold day. The rice with chicken oil was a nice surprise—you mix in shallot oil and soy sauce to taste, and it turned out delicious. Overall, it was okay, though it felt a bit pricey for...
