Golden Son Korea Pasta (Shilin) — Restaurant in Shilin District

Sure the food was not terrible but I don't get the hype.. We got the beef ball and chicken pasta, both were mediocre. The chicken pasta's sauce was bland and a bit on the watery side for pasta sauce in my opinion and the beef's one was basically gochujang, pretty boring and unnecessarily overpowering. I don't understand the tiny pieces of veggies either, pretty uncommon on a pasta dish (we ended up eating with a spoon since it was not very practical to eat with a fork). For appetizer we got the seaweed roll, which was very disappointing since the tempura batter was hard, not crispy as expected. I guess the highlight of the meal was the cantaloupe soda, which was from a can (also unexpected). To sum up, the experience felt almost like self-service. We ordered by checking off dishes on a paper menu, and we also helped ourselves to free water and napkins at a station. Additionally, we arrived before the restaurant's opening hour (5:30 p.m.), and waited outside with a few other groups. However, when it was 5:30, the staff remained inside, chatting, and we weren’t sure when it was okay to enter.
