This is my first time staying at the Renaissance Taipei Shihlin Hotel and I must say I am very impressed.
This hotel was just opened 8 months ago but every attention to detail at this hotel impressed me. To start, the hotel faces the Shihlin Rose park and is less than 3 minutes walk to the Shihlin Rose Park and former Chiang Kai Shek (1st president of taiwwan)'s historic residence, so unlike other marriott and spg properties that face crowded streets and noisy roads, you can wake up at 6AM at this property and go for a walk or job in the flower garden next door where the first president and first lady of Taiwan uses to take their morning stroll and walks.
In the early evening and afternoon, if you are interested in learning about Taiwan's culture, you can stroll back to the park and learn about the interesting history of Taiwan and its first President and first lady.
Commute wise, this hotel is 5 minutes walking distance from the Shihlin metro station so you can subway into meetings within 20 minutes of central Taipei. And if you are the adventurous type, you can explore the Shihlin night market after 6PM every night and witness/try the various street foods and restaurants that are local Taiwanese delicacies.
The hotel amenities itself is also very well done. They have an infinity pool that overlooks the Rose garden park and Chiang Kai Shek residence and mountains. And an executive lounge with an impressive view of Taiwan forest.
Each room is also well decorated with rose lighting and origami roses in the hallway wall papers that is inspired off the national park next door. The gym is super well kept with a shower and private sauna room with view.
The hotel manager on site pays attention to every meticulous detail. During my week stay there, I have witness him walk every floor with a crew two times a day to greet each guest and walk the floors to fix the minor imperfections to keep the property pristine new. And the staffs are super friendly with recommendations to local eateries. My favorite is an egg crepe shop and japanese ramen shop they recommended within two blocks from hotel and one block from metro.
The overall experience of this property for me is a 5 stars rating and I rate this place above Marriott Taipei and Sheraton Taipei hands down. I'm definitely staying here again on my next business trip in town.
The best Marriott SPG property in Taipei...
Read moreWhen we arrived, we were greeted by one of the receptionists, and then the other two receptionists came to help with the check-in process altogether, making it smooth and efficient. This seldom happened particularly in Taiwan as most of the time other receptionists just leave the premises without providing assistance.
We stayed in the Deluxe room, which was not very large, but the decor was subtle and beautiful with a certain degree of artistic vibe. Drinks and snacks in the minibar were all complimentary due to the payment was made with government vouchers. The room itself was clean and tidy, and everything including the bathroom was well-maintained. The only thing we have complained about was the water pressure being not strong enough compared to other similar level hotels.
I did like the vibe of the Shihlin Kitchen, the place for enjoying the breakfast. There were numerous dishes to choose from, ranging from Chinese traditional breakfast like congee and fried donuts to Western styles. Most of the food was delicious and diversified. The price is NT$880 per person and it's somewhat a little bit pricey if the breakfast is not included in the accommodation package.
The infinity pool is situated on the roof floor and it's amazingly great and wonderful. The water was clear and clean, and there were numerous spots in the pool for perfect photoshoot opportunities. This is a must-visit facility if you visit Renaissance Shihlin. The gym and the sauna room are all great and perfectly designed for you to enjoy the mountain views while sweating.
Overall, we did experience a terrific 2-night stay at Renaissance Shihlin and there were no obvious flaws or issues during our stay. With some minor details being attended to, I believe Renaissance Shihlin can be one of the better accommodation choices in Taipei,...

I hope the staffs on front desk could be more friendly, more smiling or cheerful. They didn’t even smile to us until we smile first, which made us feeling unwelcome. Some I‘d describe as arrogant.
The bed (by Simons)!! Bedding, sheets, and pillows are all very good quality, comfortable and we had really good rest in it.
