Honestly, this place is hands-down the best restaurant for Indian food in Taipei, and maybe even the whole of Taiwan. The Spice Shop serves authentic, true Indian food that sometimes cannot even be found in the most famous restaurants of India. I've been going to this restaurant for more than a year, and I can always rely on them to make long-time favorites, such as Palak Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala, or, if I'm in the mood, to try something new and let the chefs introduce me to a new, never-before-seen dish. Other restaurants, such as Saffron, only two steps away, may wow you with their high-class furniture and presentation, but the food, service, and atmospheric quality does not even come close to matching The Spice Shop's. The exceptional high-quality and speedy service is extremely friendly and always puts the customer first. Whatever taste you crave, they will accommodate. Spicy? No problem. Mild? No problem. Sweeter? No problem. More sauce? No problem. Classic Indian drinks, such as the yogurt-based Lassi, are served here as well, just to wash down that delicious food you just ate. The ambiance is also very bright and comforting. The chefs are always trying out new techniques and recipes, to improve their food as much as possible, even if it's only by a fraction of a percent. Overall, this is the only place to go to in the entirety of Taipei to enjoy the best, most traditional Indian...

One year ago an Indian guy who became my good friend told me “The Spice Shop” is the most authentic Indian food you can find in Taiwan. I was a bit skeptical but gave it a try. Today “The Spice Shop” become my favorite Indian restaurant too. For the past one year, I use to go there nearly every week. Never stop discovering new flavors. The food is so fresh, the service is very good. So if you are also looking for authentic Indian food, I really recommend you “The Spice Shop”. The owner Daniel is from India and he has so much passion in his own country’s food that he doesn’t make any compromise to adjust his food to local test, as most other restaurant does. That’s probably the reason why every time I go there, I always see so much Indian customer. If you don’t know what to order, no panic! Just let Shalom help you to provide you the best recommendation. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Just do the same as me and try it. Good Job Daniel, Shalom,...
Read moreI went for lunch yesterday. It was near the end of their lunch shift so as soon as I stepped in, they asked if we could order quickly. We ordered some Dal and Chaat along with soup, naan, and rice. As we waited for our food, we heard the loudest "AAACHOOOOOOOOO!!!!" coming from inside the kitchen. It was so loud I could see the spray of germs and saliva being expelled from the mouth of the chef throughout the air in the small kitchen. About thirty seconds later, our food came out of the kitchen. We did not have much of an appetite by then so the food tasted quite mediocre. Since the kitchen closed after our food came out, the kitchen staff came out for their breaks. None of them were wearing facemasks. The waitstaff was friendly but I do not...
