Windows Cafe — Restaurant in Shilin District

Came at lunch time. On entering, the place was busy and pleasant looking. I requested a table but was put at the bar by the window. Seats were quite uncomfortable, needing better padding. Bar had under table struts that made seating awkward. Ordered a cappuccino and a brunch set as this was one of the only two non meat dishes available. No drink was offered with the set, so my total order came to almost $500. I accepted this, thinking to treat myself. The meal was anything but. Drink was bitter and on the 'accepatable' rather than the 'good' end of things. I drank less than half. Eggs were dry -- how can you mess up scrambled eggs? I ate only the 1 bite. French toast was much too sweet. There were some sautéed mushrooms, but the wrong variety was used, so the mushrooms were slimey and tough. The salad had pieces of rotting lettuce and something else ... possibly pineapple... that was so rotten it was difficult to identify. I managed to remove enough rotten food from the salad and ate a few bites of the French toast before abandoning the effort. I was asked to pay the full fare, despite leaving more than half the meal and speaking with the staff. It is a shame that, having started with good ingredients and a reasonably well thought menu (bar the poor selection of mushrooms, which could never have been made right), the execution of the meal was so unfortunate. I will not return while current management remains. Clearly, there is no supervision in the kitchen, and too few staff to allow for...

Love the place! Place is cozy, food is great, nice coffee, great music! I visited here first time in a Friday morning; it is a bless not too much customers during the time. Originally I wanted to have a blunch only. But, end up I had the lunch as well since the place is too comfortable! The price is not low but the food is totally worth it.
