We found Napoli in Taichung

Roberto Murolo once said : "Io che ho girato tutto il mondo…’o sole ‘e Napule nun l’aggia maje truvate a nisciuna parte!"

Which translates in: I have travelled the whole world but I couldn't find the sun of Naples anywhere else.

Maybe he was right about the sun but when it comes to its pizza I think we have found it.

Sorriso pizzeria is definetely the best Neapolitan pizza I have ever tasted outside of naples, without any doubt.

All the ingredients used are fresh and delicious, the dough is incredible and it respects the traditional Neapolitan style both esthetically and taste wise.

I was amazed by the pizza, but what charmed me even more was the staff. The chef and its assistant were extremely welcoming and friendly.

When they heard that it was my birthday, they have offered us a dessert with happy birthday written in Italian on it.

Truly enjoyed my time and the experience at Sorriso Pizzeria, and I am sure that if you try it too you will also end up with...

As an Italian, I generally don't like trying Italian food abroad. Mainly because I prefer to stick with what the locals eat (which, as you know, in Taiwan is usually quite good) but also because I am (sadly) aware of the fact that my fellow countrymen tend to slack as soon as they can, and would easily offer poor quality food thinking that foreigners just won't be able to tell the difference. It is no surprise, then, that the best pizza I have eaten in Taichung was made by a Taiwanese. If you've ever been to Naples, or tried proper neapolitan style pizza, you will immediately recognize the thick crusted dough and the quality and proportion of the ingredients. Highly recommended for whoever knows what true pizza is supposed...

One of the best pizza places in Beitun/Taichung. This is authentic pizzas that handmade with care on the spot then toss in wood fire oven at 450F around 90 seconds to perfection. Highly recommend the truffle mushroom pizza though.
