蓮荷蔬食創意料理百匯餐廳 Tasty Veggie Buffet — Restaurant in Taichung

We were having a family reunion over lunch. We generally love vegetables so excited to try this vegetarian restaurant.

Were asked to wear masks when getting food from the buffet but found many cooking and serving staff wearing masks on the chin!

We asked for ice for our water and were told why we needed ice and that we shouldn’t use ice! Not sure why the staff felt the need to “educate” us about what we chose to do. Personally I found it very strange not to have water in a restaurant and need to be requested.

Lastly, probably the most surprising part of our experience was our 2nd grader was pushed and shoved a few times by the serving staff. If not for Dad catching her each time, she would tripped and fallen. Asking to speak to the manager when leaving but was told there was no manager on site.

Perfect 5 star vegetarian buffet experience. Usually vegetarian buffets are cramped and noisy and “lower class”, but this restaurant is a leader and sets a new standard for vegetarian options. Overall a very pleasant experience. On the main dishes side, there are probably over 50-90 selection. Excellent coffee, must have at least a cup (choose the one on the left is fresh milk). Desserts are must have as well, first buffet I’ve been to that actually has quality desserts that aren’t overly sweet. They got different natural jellos from different types of teas and flowers. Must try! Fruits are average, nothing tasty. About 6 different types of soup, sweet or salty. Ice cream from meiji. Bathroom was very upscale and clean. Clean utensils and upscale clean environment. A very unique vegan restaurant. Lots of food options that don't use animal products. The plant-based sashimi was interesting. They have lots of drinks, and coffee uses soy milk instead of cream.

The procedure to get food is also unique. You take your plate from your table, get in line, and take your personal tongs to put food on your plate. When you're done eating, before you go back for more, you must wash your plate at a sink to reuse it.

The staff didn't speak English. Rarely are staff rude in Taiwan, so it was surprising that an older woman who worked here was very agitated at us. She was trying to tell us to use a plastic plate for our little boy, and she was not happy about him holding a ceramic plate when he was just helping his mother.
