The BBQ House (Tainan City Hall) — Restaurant in Tainan

I really had high hopes for this place... The decor is awesome, the service is awesome, everything was great... except the food. I ordered an 8oz wagyu, but it was a 6 oz cut and little bits to make the 8oz. Sir, if the steak is only 6 oz that is fine... Frying little pieces of wagyu is not the way. The steak was over cooked and, while still good, not what I had expected.

My girlfriend ordered an 8 oz tenderloin, which was thick and a good cut, unfortunately it was cooked way too hot and had a 12mm hard crust on both sides... Which I usually prefer honestly but there was no flavor, no seasoning, just burnt crusty meat. The sides also were just pasta and cheese, no salt or pepper or garlic or anything resembling anything but "au natural" flavor.

There is a lot of potential... Make a menu with your cuts and hand picking steaks optional, don't be afraid to throw some salt and pepper on your steaks, add a little more cheese to the pasta, and dang if your gonna stare at my girlfriend for an hour at least throw in some wine or a discount or something. This restaurant has become one of our favorites in Taiwan! We’d never had dry aged ribeye and finally decided to try here! We finished our marathon right across the street earlier that day and wanted to get something fancy to celebrate and stumbled upon this place! The ribeye was so tender all the way; it was probably the best steak we’ve ever eaten. Great steakhouse! Was here when it first opened and have been coming back for a couple times ever since. Meat is always perfectly cooked medium rare (you can request how many grams you'd like and how you would like your meat cooked) - medium rare is really soft and meat is still relatively flavorful. Absolutely love their grilled chicken salad though - their chicken is charred and love the taste - one of the best grilled chicken salads imo! They now have some pasta and risotto but have yet to try them yet. Still think their best is their meats though - definitely order that...
