The Sober Foodie — Restaurant in Tainan

This restaurant is in a quiet residential neighborhood area in Tainan city. They have the prettiest door ever. Highly recommend making a reservation first as this place can get packed pretty quickly even on weekdays. We spent a while deciding on the menu. The food is variety of Asian-Western fusion. The waiters are extremely friendly and they recommended we get food to share along with cocktails. Apparently cocktails are their specialty here so each of us got one. They also served mocktails as well for people who don’t drink. We waited for around 15 minutes for the food. All the dishes including the salad are very well seasoned and appropriate portion as share plates. The bartender also came to check on us every now and then on the drinks. Nice restaurant with a cool layout. Food was okay and not overly expensive, but the beef (牛小排) was lackluster with little flavor and the fried squid could have used lemon and/or sauce. Shredded chicken and nut salad was great. Creamy mushroom risotto was okay. Was disappointed with the timing as everything was brought out in quick succession so we couldn't enjoy one dish individually and had to dig into everything at once before it got cold. Also recommended to ask for a proper fork and knife or you will only get a small salad fork to eat your entire meal (no knife provided unless asked).
