ABC Deli — Restaurant in Taitung City

Quality ingredients and a comfortable shop, though some room for improvement.

First the good points: the ingredients used are good quality, and portion sizes are more than reasonable. We ordered beef and chicken leg pitta bread, and both had plenty of meat and vegetables.

Though one thing that left us a bit disappointed was the flavour, which seemed a bit bland. Adding the sauce improved things quite a bit, but it's hard to make up for lack of spice. Having eaten pitta bread with all kinds of fillings in the Mediterranean, we are used to flavours that are a bit stronger.

Another area for improvement: our table surface was noticeably dirty, and when we cleaned it, it left behind a blackish residue on the tissue, which is not great.

The restaurant floor and stairs to the toilet area were also a bit dirty, with bits of food on the floor. Perhaps it was a busy day, and the staff didn't have a chance to clean the area, but I get the feeling it had been like that for some time.

My friend and I came here after a run for a quick bite before returning home. I ordered the falafel pita and fries and he ordered a cheese calzone (also with fries). Both came out within 10 minutes, they tasted fresh and were exactly what we were expecting and the portion sizes were quite large (except for the fries).

What made this place exceptional however was the hot sauce and the service. The hot sauce had a great depth of flavor with sweet, sour, tangy and spicy notes and we felt the spice across our entire palate.
