Since there seemed to be a lot of hype for this restaurant, I had to try it out for myself.
First impression is that the place is very greasy. That is only because there seems to be very poor air ventilation and circulation. Thus, the floors and tables are all sticky. If that was fixed, then I can add another star. Definitely recommend take-out for this place.
As far as the food goes, it is indeed Cantonese. Growing up in NYC, before the Chinese mainlanders migration, Cantonese food was very prevalent. It's usually heavy on the gravy, savory, and often times, greasy. That was the case for this place. If you want barbecue pork, the flavor is spot on. The one thing that's common to most restaurants in Taiwan is that their beef is subpar. This is the case for this restaurant also. The beef here is indigestibly chewy. The black pepper in the "Black Pepper Chicken/Beef" is overpowering. The free soup is inedible unless "umami" soup is your preference.
The price here is moderate. Seems like anything international in Taiwan will be overpriced. Would I eat here again? Probably so because my better half loves gravy. I recommend you at least give them a try before marking this place off...
