Absolute favorite new spot! It takes a special kind of place to impress the spoiled mouths and bellies of fellow Taipei foodies. Vice Versa did exactly that and more. This wonderful new addition to the neighborhood serves the most delightful Italian meal experience since recent memories. This yet-to-be-discovered gem seems to have nailed its offering right out of the gate. Vice Versa not only manages to deliver the perfect evening , but also elevates the already crowded dining scene of Taiwan. Beautifully decorated and not overly ostentatious, the space is cozy and intimate. The carefully selected menu provides a memorable night of romantic wining and dining. The entire birthday group dinner was hard to forget. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of freshly baking pizza. The restaurant was filling up quickly. We got two of everything on the menu. Every dish was a hit. Italian classics and some twists, and 100% worth the very reasonable price. Our entire table of friends loved the entire experience. The wine paired wonderfully with everything. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu — every thing is a must-get. The delicious food improves on modern Italian, lovingly prepared with high-quality ingredients and meticulous plating. Our favorites include the the pappardelle, the tuna tartar, the cured salmon, the burrata, the kale salads, and the perfectly seasoned Tomahawk steak with truffled mashed potato. This must-visit is anything but your average neighborhood Italian joint. The owner was lovely and thoughtful. We left fully fed and satisfied. We came back...
Read moreI came here for the first time with my girlfriend, and was so moved by my experience that I am compelled to write a review. First off, the food is exquisite. For example, not a single restaurant in Taiwan I've been to so far has done their own Caesar dressing. This place is the first, and has the decency to include anchovies. Second, the steak is done very well, and is priced very reasonably. The Head Chef Yang tells me he does his steak in the pan, which, as a casual chef, astounds me. My interaction with the Head Chef bring up my third point- service. Excellent in all regards. I had SEVERAL people ask me whether the food was up to standard throughout the meal. In fact, more people asked my opinion tonight than all the other establishments I've been to in the past three months combined. The maitre d` Tony was personable and took his time to introduce the restaurant, the menu, and the drinks meticulously at all points in the night. It helped that he treated us to a shot of Jameson as a goodbye.
It might sound like I've known this restaurant and its proprietors for a long time, but that's the astounding thing...it was my first time here, and at the behest of my girlfriend nonetheless. For a first time experience, I was left astounded, humbled, and very thankful for the experience I had.
The food is authentic and tasty, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are friendly and warm.
I will return on the contingency that I can get a seat. I expect the bookings at this place will skyrocket in the...
Read moreOne of the things I love about this restaurant is that it’s in a historical building, when you walk into this restaurant it feels like it takes you to a bistro in Italy. First off, we ordered the Cesar salad and the grilled vegetable warm salad. Then we ordered the bolognese pappardelle and the carbonara. For the entre we ordered their classic roasted chicken, it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also ordered the steak which was perfectly cooked, medium rare, it was pink centered and had a beautifully seared crust. We also ordered their handmade salami and prosciutto pizza, all of their pasta and pizzas are hand made daily. For dessert we ordered the crème brûlée and the tiramisu, the creme brûlée has a nice caramelized top layer of sugar and a creamy custard made from high quality vanilla beans. The tiramisu was a perfect balance of flavor and texture with layers of creamy mascarpone and rich espresso soaked lady fingers with a touch of cocoa powder on top. Lastly, I have to talk about the wine! They have a cute little wine cellar, what’s so special about them is that they don’t have a wine list because they change their wine selection every so often so every time you go you get to experience different types of wine. We were a group of 8, and celebrated a friend’s birthday. The servers were very attentive, I highly recommend this place for any occasion, it was not just a delicious dinner but also a...
