Zhanlu Coffee — Restaurant in Zhongzheng District

A friend took me here after going on a wild goose chase to find a used book for my aunt. It was a warm respite from the rain and overcast day outside. The inside is quite nice and warm. Lots of earth tones, and seating throughout. This is near Shi Da university, so there are a mix of students and older people. I ordered a pour over and my friend ordered ice. She got hers right away and I'm not sure why my order took 4 times as long. I ordered the Indonesian single origin. Nice fruity aroma, and a light-medium roast. Wasn't too bitter, and didn't leave a burnt aftertaste in your mouth. Service otherwise was friendly and very good. They kept my water glass filled while I waited...

For the steep price of some $250 for a cup you would expect an excellent coffee and service. But it falls just short of 4.

Service is very good and staff is attentive. Coffees are well described and categorised on a flavour wheel. Though the wheel was pretty accurate, my coffee was a bit off being perfectly balanced, coming a bit underextracted. The space is pleasant but tables feel a bit too crowded.

Was the price more reasonable and more attention paid to actually extracting the coffee, rather than descriptions and looking good,...

Minimum charge of 100-300NTD (I don’t remember) specifically for drinks, meaning if you want to go and just order a piece of cake as well some other pastries, even though it would generate revenue and satisfy me as the customer, they will reject you and make a huge fuss about it. I kindly asked if it was okay to just order food rather than a drink and the waitress had to escalate that to the manager who refused. Horrible policy, I will not go to this...
