No expectations for a great meal -6.826613, 37.668381 This restaurant in the centre of Morogoro, with few local eateries outside hotels, is run by Indians and has everything to offer. It is an air-conditioned restaurant established and descended from the New Green Restaurant: Chinese, Italian and Indian dishes and attracts customers from all directions and the place fills up quickly. Outside next to the BBQ full of chicken, the daily specials are on the chalkboard. There is also a full bar and a huge screen above the bar for sports games. They also deliver. No free Wi-Fi reception. In June 2024, we ordered Indian Paneer Hariali of cubes of paneer marinated in mint, coriander & chillies and grilled in a tandoori oven (12.000). The paneer was presented in an unusual way, not in a curry. The cooked rice was delicious, the paneer was well grilled, but the sauce did not make it an Indian dish. Just tasty, but not delicious. The service was acceptable, but not personal. In a town like Morogoro, Red Chill restaurant serves a standard meal in a village restaurant. No expectations. Their meals are nutritional. That is all.

People definitely don’t come here for the service. Walked in and seated ourselves, waited 20 minutes before anyone came to the table even after making eye contact and waving at the lady manager. She asked another waiter where a different waiter was and that was it. No one came to take our order nor did the manager come to check why we were waving at her. The inside is small so when you talk everyone can hear, especially with only 6 people in the restaurant. Finally ordered and the food took 40 minutes. Food was great! We had the mutton curry and szechuan black pepper chicken with naan and rice. Very generous portions and food tasted fresh. When we finished our meal a group of 10-12 Indian men arrived and were immediately served; curries, rice, naan, appetizers and teas. We then understood why our food took long 🙃

Review of Red Chilli Restaurant, Morogoro Food Quality: Pizza: The pizza at Red Chilli is well-prepared, with a flavorful crust and a good balance of toppings. It stands out as a highlight of the menu. Chinese Food: The Chinese dishes offered are also commendable. The flavors are well-executed, and the dishes are satisfying. Prawns Curry: Unfortunately, the prawns curry fell short. The dish lacked the depth of flavor expected, and the prawns were not as fresh or well-cooked as they could have been. Improvement is needed in both the seasoning and quality of the prawns. Overall Experience: The restaurant provides a pleasant dining atmosphere and a diverse menu. While the pizza and Chinese dishes are a positive draw, the prawns curry requires attention to enhance the overall dining experience.

I really enjoyed the place and the food! It has a charming Indian vibe, but the menu also offers a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, so there’s something for everyone. One unique touch I loved was the board and card games — just ask the waiter for a selection, and you can play while waiting for your meal. It’s a fun way to pass the time!

A word of advice: the portions are quite generous. I planned to have a full-course meal — starter, main course, and dessert — but honestly, I was already full after the starter! So, be mindful when ordering, and if you're unsure, you can always ask the waiter to serve smaller portions.

The only downside was the atmosphere — there was a flying cockroach that landed on my food, which was disappointing. Thankfully, I was already full by then, so it didn’t completely ruin the experience.

Overall, I think this place is best enjoyed with friends it feels more lively and fun that way. I’d definitely recommend it for a relaxed and social...
