No trip to Tanga is complete without going to Blue Room Cafe. It has everything to hate - a very limited menu, open only for 4 hours in a day (9.00 - 13.00), and hasn't been renovated in decades. Yet the charm, the excellent snacks, and hospitable people give you a glimpse of eating out 50+ years ago.
We reached at 9.00 as they opened and already it was quite full and had to 'queue' up to get our snacks. The Nylon Bhajia (potato chips/fries) and the kebabs are heavenly. The chai is decent and the juice was refreshing. And the price is super cheap - two of us ate to heart's content for under TSh. 10,000.

The staff are friendly and kind. We were obviously the only tourists in the very busy cafe but no one paid any heed and we felt super comfortable.
