Hong Bao Mega Bangna — Restaurant in Bang Kaeo Town Municipality

I have been to this restaurant four times. The food is decent, and the place is nice, but the prices are very high. However, there are a few things to watch out for.

Billing Errors

On our first visit, we noticed a mistake on the bill, unsurprisingly in their favor. After pointing it out to the waiter, the amount was corrected, and an unordered item was removed.

Be Careful with the Dim Sum The most serious issue concerns the Dim Sum. On one occasion, we ordered a scallop-based dish, but the filling was actually shrimp. When we complained to the waiter and the floor manager, they initially tried to pass off the shrimp as scallops before finally admitting the mistake. The same thing happened again on another visit, this time with shrimp instead of crab.

Unattentive Staff The staff is the restaurant’s biggest downside—unfocused, indifferent, and often more interested in their phones than in serving customers. Many times, they avoid eye contact to avoid taking orders.

First thing first, Hong Bao is an extremely expensive restaurant. A family of 4 to 5 can rack up the bill to around 4,000 baht or more. However, with expensive bill comes delicious food. As expected of them, the taste of the food in here is something to try out occasionally. Luckily, this restaurant is not a “fine dining” type, so the food’s quantity is also appropriate. There is one menu that I totally recommend you try it out which is called something along the line of “Shark Belly Soup”. This soup is unlike any other that I’ve tasted before. The seasoning and ingredient used is mixed in such harmony that I couldn’t stop drinking it. There is a catch though, the pork is very sticky. It takes multiple chews to finally be able swallow. Sometimes it takes so long, it becomes annoying. Do give it a try if you can...

Hongbao the taste of cantonese style. If you are looking for dimsum restaurant in Bangkok. You will find many restaurants, however Hongbao is in the top 5 lists for Dimsum.

Normally my family always visit Central Embassy shop. This time we was invited by mom and dads’ friend who live nearby Bangna. So this was my chance to came and tried new branch of Hongbao.

The truth is this branch service couldn’t compare to Central bassy branch. The food was slow and tasted plain. The recommend menu is “Salapao Hima” which is sweet bun with bbq pork.
